India: Man hacks daughter to death for resisting molestation

Khagaria (Bihar), Mar 17 (PTI) A man allegedly hacked to death his 19-year-old daughter for resisting his attempts to molest her in Bihar's Khagaria district on Sunday, the police said.

The father was arrested by the police after the incident at Khajretha village and made an abortive bid to commit suicide, Bharatkhand police outpost officer-in-charge Manoj Kumar said.

He is being treated at a nearby hospital, Kumar said.

India: 17-year-old Dalit girl gang-raped in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Mar 18 (PTI) A 17-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped by five youths in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, police said Monday.

The accused also recorded a video of their act, they said.

The incident took place in Muzaffarnagar's Phulat village under Ratenpuri police station on Sunday, they added.

WELLINGTON, March 17 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from the terror attacks on two mosques in New Zealand's Christchurch has risen to 50 as one more victim was found at one of the shooting scenes, the police said on Sunday.

Investigators found the victim while removing bodies from the Masjid Al Noor Mosque where more than 40 people were killed as a gunman stormed the mosque and went on a shooting rampage on Friday afternoon, Police Commissioner Mike Bush told a press conference.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — The manifesto that the presumed New Zealand shooter published is shorter and “more sloppy” than the one written by a Norwegian right-wing extremist who killed 77 people in 2011, but expresses similar sentiments, a Swedish terror expert said Friday.

Russia develops new frigates capable of carrying nearly 48 cruise missiles

"The Northern design bureau has completed designing frigates of Project 22350M and is now developing working design documentation for these vessels in line with the customer’s tactical and technical order," the source said.

1.7 mln Syrian refugees wish to return home

MOSCOW, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Around 1.7 million Syrian refugees registered in foreign countries are hoping to return to their homeland, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for the Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said Saturday.

"It is estimated that 1,712,264 Syrians in nine countries expressed their desire to return back to their homeland. Since September 30, 2015, in total 389,735 Syrians have returned to their homes from abroad," the center said in a daily bulletin published by the Russian Defense Ministry.
