Pakistani national repatriated by India as goodwill gesture

Jammu, Mar 9 (PTI) A 60-year-old Pakistani national, who mistakenly ventured into Indian territory, was repatriated as a goodwill gesture, a BSF spokesman said Saturday.

Mohammad Ashraf was apprehended soon after he intruded into this side from across the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir.

India: Lalu to approve RJD poll candidates; alliance partners

Patna, Mar 9; PTI/GANASHAKTI: RJD chief Lalu Prasad will have the final say on the selection of candidates and choice of alliance partners for the Lok Sabha elections and Assembly bypolls, his party said Saturday.

The decision was made at the RJD's central parliamentary board meeting which was preceded by another meeting of state units of Bihar and Jharkhand at former chief minister Rabri Devi's 10, Circular Road residence here.

India: Intruding UAV shot down in Rajasthan: Sources

Jaipur, Mar 9 (PTI) A unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) which intruded into Rajasthan's Ganganagar was shot down by the Army on Saturday, defence sources said.

"One UAV intrusion in Ganganagar sector around 7.30 pm. The drone was engaged and brought down," a defence source (no detail of 'source') said. No further details were shared.

India: 16-yr-old girl raped in UP

Baghpat, Mar 9 (PTI) A man was booked for allegedly raping a minor in a village here, police said Saturday.

According to a complaint lodged at Khekra police station by the victim's father, their neighbour had been raping the 16-year-old girl for the past four months and also recorded videos, said Circle Officer R P Singh.

India: Minor raped, blackmailed by teenager

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (PTI) A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a teenager, who also blackmailed her after taking objectionable videos when she refused to get an abortion, police said Saturday.

The girl approached the police along with her father and lodged a complaint on Friday, alleging that she was raped by the accused, Nagaraju (19), who promised to marry her, the police said.

Trade deal with China only if it is good for US: Trump

Washington, Mar 9 (PTI) Amidst reports of negotiations for a deal with china hitting a bump, President Donald Trump has said that he will enter into a trade deal with Beijing only if he is confident that it is good for the US.

But he also told reporters at the White House on Friday that he is confident of entering into a trade deal with China.

The world's two largest economies are locked in a trade war since Trump imposed heavy tariffs on imported steel and aluminium items from China in March last year, a move that sparked fears of a global trade war.

SpaceX capsule back on Earth

09 Mar 2019; AFP: SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean on Friday, completing a NASA demonstration mission that paves the way for the resumption of manned space flights from the US.

After hours of suspense, the Dragon spacecraft touched down at 8:45 am (1345 GMT) some 230 miles (370 kilometers) off the coast of the US state of Florida.

EU action will have big impact on vote in House of Commons next week: May

LONDON, March 8 (Xinhua) -- British Prime Minister Theresa May issued a message to the European Union on Friday saying its action will have a big impact on a crucial vote in the House of Commons next week.

May used a visit to a factory in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, to stress the importance of the part Brussels should play in seeking a deal on a future relationship after Britain leaves the EU later this month.

May will urge the more than 640 MPs on Tuesday to support her Brexit deal in a meaningful vote.

Ultra-Orthodox Jews clash with women's group at holy site in Jerusalem

08 Mar 2019; DW: Thousands of ultra-Orthodox Jews were bussed in to disrupt a prayer service by the liberal Women of the Wall group. Members of the group had to be escorted out for their safety after being spit on and threatened.

Clashes broke out between thousands of young, ultra-Orthodox Jews and the Women of the Wall (Neshot Hakotel) movement at the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Friday.
