Pak President rules out establishing any kind of ties with Israel

Islamabad, Oct 28 (PTI) Pakistan President Arif Alvi on Sunday ruled out establishing any kind of relations with Israel as he strongly rejected reports that an Israeli aircraft carrying some officials secretly landed in Islamabad and flew away after several hours at the airport here.

"Islamabad is not establishing any kind of relations with Israel," Alvi told the media before his departure for Turkey on a three-day official visit in the wee hours of Sunday.

Trump orders flags be flown at half-staff

President Donald Trump has ordered flags at federal buildings throughout the United States to be flown at half-staff in “solemn respect” for the shooting victims at a Pittsburgh synagogue.

Trump issued the proclamation late Saturday, shortly after returning to Washington from speaking at the Future Farmers of America convention in Indianapolis and a campaign rally in Murphysboro, Illinois.

In his address to an audience at the Bengaluru Literature Festival, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, “Modi is like a scorpion sitting on a Shivling, you can't remove him with your hand & you cannot hit it with a chappal either”.

According to The Indian Express, Tharoor was quoting an unnamed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) source to compare Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a “scorpion sitting on a Shivling”.

China donates prefabricated houses for displaced people in Myanmar's western state

YANGON, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- China handed over 1,000 prefabricated houses worth 15.9 billion kyats (10.3 million U.S. dollars) to Myanmar authorities for displaced people in Rakhine state at Myanmar Thilawa Port Saturday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Union Minister U Kyaw Tint Swe of the State Counselor's office thanked China for its efforts in the rehabilitation process in Rakhine state.

Chinese Ambassador Hong Liang pledged to continue assisting the Myanmar government in view of the friendship between the two countries.

Ayodhya dispute: SC likely to hear pleas against HC verdict on Monday

New Delhi, Oct 28 (PTI) The Supreme Court is likely to hear Monday a batch of pleas challenging the Allahabad High Court's 2010 verdict by which the disputed land on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid area in Ayodhya was divided into three parts.

A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and K M Joseph would hear the appeals filed in the matter.

Modi's diagnosis was often right, prescription wrong: Tharoor

It is time for Modi to go, he said, highlighting a range of contradictions in the prime minister's style of working over the last four and a half years.

India: Man commits suicide in police station premises

Banda (UP), Oct 28 (PTI) A 37-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Tindwari Police Station premises here, police said Sunday.

Bablu Singh went inside a room in the police station premises on Saturday night and hanged himself from the ceiling, police official Bharat Lal Kumar Pal said.

Singh and others were called at the police station on a complaint of power theft.

The victim's father Ram Asrey Singh alleged that his son was harassed in the police station due to which he died.

Dengue patients increasing

KANPUR: There is a clear indication of rising in the dengue patients. Out of 157 samples tested in the medical college microbiology laboratory, as many as 63 cases were identified positively. Thus, the figure of dengue patients has reached beyond the number of 500.

This was a quite distressing situation in view of the effective drive launched to minimise the larvae through spraying in the changing season by the Health Department here.   

Police say multiple casualties in Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, gunman in custody

WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- A shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, U.S. state of Pennsylvania, on Saturday caused "multiple casualties," local authorities said.

Three officers were shot at the Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill neighborhood.

The gunman, a heavy-set white male with a beard, surrendered and is in custody, police said.

Local CBS affiliate KDKA reported that eight people were killed and identified the gunman as Robert Bowers.

4-way summit in Turkey urges full-scale cease-fire in Syria

ISTANBUL, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday said the four-way summit ended with a call for a full-scale cease-fire to halt the bloodshed in Syria.

"We had a fruitful and sincere consultation during the summit," Erdogan said at the joint press conference following the quadrilateral summit in Istanbul.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and French President Emmanuel Macron joined the summit hosted by Erdogan to discuss the ways for a long lasting political solution for Syria.

Israel conducts large-scale strike across Gaza Strip

JERUSALEM, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Israeli army Friday night conducted a large-scale strike on approximately 80 Hamas targets throughout the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army said in a statement Saturday morning.

On Friday night, 30 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel, said the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Approximately 10 rockets were intercepted by the IDF's Iron Dome aerial defense system. Two fell within the Gaza Strip and the the rest fell in open areas.
