China urges US to stop slander after Trump’s meddling claim

BEIJING; 28 Sep 2018; (AP) — Beijing urged the United States on Thursday to stop slandering China after President Donald Trump accused the Asian giant of trying to interfere in upcoming American congressional elections.

Geng Shuang, a foreign ministry spokesman, told reporters at a regular briefing in Beijing that the Chinese government does not interfere in other countries’ internal affairs.

GST will be changed if Cong comes to power: Rahul Gandhi

Chitrakoot (MP), Sep 27 (PTI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday said changes will be made to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to reduce rates on items, if his party comes to power.

On a visit to various places in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, he also continued his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale fighter deal, alleging that "the watchman has indulged in theft."

Australian broadcaster’s chairman quits over politics claims

CANBERRA, 28 Sep 2018; Australia (AP) — The chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Corp. resigned on Thursday over allegations that he pressured the independent national broadcaster to fire two political journalists because the ruling conservative government disliked them.

The scandal has damaged the credibility of both the governing coalition and the ABC, which is government-funded but is required by law to operate independently of party politics. The ABC is many Australians’ most trusted news source.

Medical Council of India dissolved; Committee to run medical education regulator

NEW DELHI; 27 Sep 2018; GANASHAKTI: The allegedly-corrupt Medical Council of India (MCI) was on the chopping block for quite some time now. The axe finally fell on Wednesday, when the Centre issued an ordinance, appointing a seven-member committee to run the medical education regulator. The panel will be in charge till the MCI is replaced by the proposed National Medical Commission (NMC).

Gang rape: HC moved against detention of 6 under Goondas Act

Chennai, Sep 26 (PTI) Petitions have been filed in Madras High Court challenging the detention of six of the 17 accused in a gang rape case here, under the stringent Goondas Act.

A division bench of Justices C T Selvam and Nirmal Kumar issued notices to the authorities concerned returnable in three weeks, when the petitions came up for hearing.

SC says no coercive action against Salman Khan produced movie 'Loveratri'

New Delhi, Sep 27 (PTI) The Supreme Court directed Thursday that no coercive action is to be taken in any part of the country against Salman Khan Ventures Pvt ltd, the producer of upcoming bollywood movie 'Loveratri'.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra considered the submission that the movie, slated for all India release on October 5, has been cleared by the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and despite this an FIR has been registered in Bihar and a criminal complaint is pending in Vadodara in Gujarat.

Falahari Baba gets life sentence for rape

India, Rajsthan: Alwar court has found Kaushalendra Prapannacharya, also known as Falahari Baba, guilty of rape, and sentenced him for life with a fine of IRs 100,000.

According to Amar Ujala, the raped woman considered Falahari Baba a father figure.

Baba tried to deny his crime but there were enough witnesses and evidence available to sentence him.

Donald Trump has to endure what could be one of the most humiliating moments in his life when he was laughed at the UN General Assembly while bragging that his presidency “had accomplished more than any other administration in history”.

The laughter was audible. US president looked around the room, smiled broadly, and said “Didn’t expect that reaction, but that’s OK,”

Macron Breaks Silence on Rafale Deal, Distances Self From Row

Paris, Sept 25; GANASHAKTI: French President Emmanuel Macron has said that the Rafale deal was a "government-to-government" discussion and he was not in power when the multi-billion dollar agreement for 36 fighter jets was signed between India and France.

Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, Macron was asked if the Indian government had at any point told France or Dassault – the French aerospace major – that they had to accept Reliance as the Indian partner for the Rafale deal.

Dog with baby head in its mouth found outside BHU Hospital

Varansi: A dog was seen walking near BHU Hospital with the head of a new born baby. Hospital security staff looked for the remaining body, but could not find it.

According to Amar Ujala, family members of the patients saw the dog outside BHU’s Sundar Lal Hospital and screamed. Security staff chased the dog. Dog dropped the head and ran away.

Police arrived on scene, took control of the severed head, and sent it for post mortem.
