Dairy dosage: Russian ‘yogurt’ vaccine in the works to fight coronavirus

MOSCOW, June 2. /TASS/: Russian scientists develop a coronavirus vaccine that could be administered as a dairy product, Russian Academy of Sciences Vice President Vladimir Chekhonin said Tuesday at the Academy board meeting.

The research is conducted by the scientists from the Institute of Experimental Medicine (St. Petersburg), he said. The vaccine is a mucosal one, administered orally, usually as an aerosol or instillation. The antigens in these vaccines are usually contained in microcapsules that protect them from digestive enzymes.

Putin, Trump discuss G7 summit, oil markets over phone

MOSCOW, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump at the initiative of the U.S. side, discussing issues related to the Group of Seven (G7) Summit and oil markets, the Kremlin said Monday.

"Trump informed Putin about his idea of holding a G7 summit with the possible invitation of the leaders of Russia, Australia, India and South Korea," it said in a statement.

The importance of enhancing the bilateral dialogue on strategic stability and confidence-building measures in the military sector was noted.

Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems repel enemy air strike in Tajikistan drills

MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/: The combat teams of Russian S-300PS anti-aircraft missile systems repelled an attack by a notional enemy’s sole and multiple air targets during drills in Tajikistan, the press office of Russia’s Central Military District reported on Monday.

Russia’s Strategic Missile Force to hold over 100 drills this year

MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/: Russia’s Strategic Missile Force will hold over 100 various drills during the summer training period that kicked off on June 1, the Defense Ministry of Russia reported on Monday.

"During the summer training period, the Strategic Missile Force will conduct over 30 tactical drills with missile regiments and more than 70 special tactical exercises with logistics and military security forces," the ministry said in a statement.

Diplomat calls allegations of Russian involvement in US riots ‘dirty manipulation’

MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/: The statement made by the former US President Barack Obama’s National Security Adviser Susan Rice regarding Russia’s involvement in organization of riots in the US over the death of George Floyd are a dirty informational manipulation, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Monday.

The Russian diplomat noted that a while ago Rice’s party members made a fatal mistake when they "decided to blame absolutely everything that was not to their liking on Russia."

Putin to be briefed on Russia’s economic recovery plan on June 2

MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/: Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will discuss a nationwide economic recovery plan on June 2, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced on Monday.

"Today, this document [a national economic recovery plan] has been submitted to the Kremlin, a meeting between the President and Prime Minister Mishustin is scheduled for tomorrow, June 2. At that meeting Mishustin will report to the president about this document," the Kremlin official said.

He assured that most of the meeting will be open to the media.

Number of officially unemployed in Russia reaches 2.09 mln people, says minister

MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/: The number of officially unemployed in Russia has reached 2.09 mln people, Russia’s Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov said on Monday.

"The number of officially unemployed people is indeed growing as it has already exceeded 2 mln people as of today, reaching 2.09 mln," he said.

On May 27, Kotyakov said that the number of unemployed had exceeded 1.9 mln people.

 

Russia has not made any decisions on opening borders for foreigners yet — Kremlin

MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/: Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov is not aware whether Russia will decide to open its borders for foreigners by June 24, however, the closed borders regime does not apply to official guests of the Victory Day parade set to take place on that day.

Russia’s daily coronavirus cases exceed 9,000 for second day

MOSCOW, June 1. /TASS/: The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed in the past day in Russia reached 9,035, taking the total case tally in the country to 414,878, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Monday.

According to the data, the number of daily COVID-19 cases surpassed 9,000 for the second day in a row. The daily growth rate reached 2.2% versus 2.3% a day earlier.

The number of Russians with COVID-19 who recovered rose by 3,994 in the past day to 175,877. The share of recoveries in Russia rose from 42.35% to 42.39%. This was the lowest growth since April 27.
