MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/: The smoke at the Russian Foreign Ministry's office, to which Moscow fire crews responded earlier on Saturday evening, was caused by a short circuit that had not led to a fire, a spokesperson for the Russian emergencies ministry said on Saturday.

"An examination established that a short circuit occurred, but no fire followed. There were no reports of injuries. All crews are returning back to their bases," the emergencies ministry’s Moscow office said.

MOSCOW, October 6. / TASS /: There are no specifics regarding the possible meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the APEC summit in Chile in November, said Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Sunday, while answering a question whether a meeting between the two leaders in any format is possible.

"There is nothing specific about this yet," Peskov said.

Earlier, President Putin expressed the hope that he would be able to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as part of the APEC summit.

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/: Russia and Mexico agreed that Mexican air carrier Interjet would continue using Russia’s SSJ-100 aircraft, Chief Executive Officer of VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov has said.

"We carried our negotiations and agreed that no harsh measures will be taken by each party. They [SSJ-100 aircraft] are now in use," Shuvalov told the Vesti On Saturday with Sergei Brilev news program on Rossiya’1 channel. "We will now look into ways of a smooth solution to this situation, on how to keep afloat the air carrier, which is a major company."

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/: Russia has offered its grain supplies to Cuba to replace imports from Canada and France and therefore ensure the island nation’s food security, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said during his visit to the country.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - The Russian embassy in the United States has sent a note of protest to the U.S. State Department over FBI questioning of a Russian lawmaker in a New York airport overnight.

Russian deputy Inga Yumasheva was questioned for an hour by the FBI upon arrival in New York, the Russian embassy said in a statement posted here on its Facebook page. It did not specify which airport she arrived at.

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/: Russia will establish the system of accounting for greenhouse gas emissions at the level of economic entities — companies and enterprises by 2025, according to the Russian social-economic development forecast for 2020-2022.

The forecast was prepared by the Economic Development Ministry and submitted to the State Duma by the government together with the federal budget draft.

TASS, October 5: Seismologists registered an earthquake of 5.3 magnitude in the area of the Aleutian Islands (US) close to Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, a source in the regional branch of the Geophysical Service at the Russian Academy of Sciences told TASS.

"The earthquake was registered at 3:48 pm local time (6:48 am Moscow time - TASS)," the source said.

No injuries or damages were reported, and no tsunami alert was issued.

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/: A special fire hazard regime will be introduced on the territory of Russia's Amur region from October 10 due to increasing danger of wildfires in the area, local ministry of forestry and firefighting told reporters on Saturday.

"We will give people an opportunity to finish cleaning their yards, and heads of settlements — to prepare for the start of the fire hazard season until October 10," Amur region's acting minister of forestry and firefighting Alexey Sevostyanov said.

MOSCOW, October 4. /TASS/: The price of natural gas transit via Ukraine will be fixed in accordance with current European laws, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said on Friday in an interview with the Business FM radio station.

"The transit price in accordance with European legislation will be determined under such laws. This is not the cost of pumping per 1,000 cubic meters and per 100 kilometers, as it was earlier. This will be the price related to entry and exit from the gas transport system. This is what should be paid for," Novak said.
