Russia: Four soldiers injured, one dead after ammunition explosion in the Urals

YEKATERINBURG, May 4. /TASS/: Five military servicemen have been wounded after the ammunition exploded at a shooting range in Russia’s Sverdlovsk Region, one of them died of wounds, the press service of the Central Military District told reporters on Saturday.

No specific date yet for Libyan foreign minister’s visit to Moscow

MOSCOW, May 3. /TASS/: The exact date of the visit by Foreign Minister in Libya’s Government of National Accord Mohamed Taher Siala to Moscow depends on the situation around Tripoli and has not been set yet, a diplomatic source informed TASS on Friday.

"We are waiting for him, but the exact date depends on him and on the situation in the country," the source said.

Russian Presidential Envoy for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov earlier said that Siala could visit Moscow soon.

About 37,000 National Guard officers to maintain public order on May 9

MOSCOW, May 3. /TASS/: Almost 37,000 members of Russia’s National Guard will maintain public order and security across the country during the May 9 celebrations dedicated to Victory Day, the National Guard’s press service informed TASS on Friday.

"A total of 37,000 personnel will maintain public order throughout the country. In Moscow, 5,000 National Guard members will be involved in efforts to maintain public safety," the press service said.

Nearly 150 forest fires extinguished in Russia over last 24 hours

MOSCOW, May 3. /TASS/: /TASS/. Forestry workers have extinguished 148 forest fires on the territory of over 44 hectares over the last 24 hours, the press service of the Aerial Forest Protection Service said on Friday.

"According to regional forestry departments, on 2 May 2019, 148 forest fires were extinguished on the area of 44,328 hectares. On 3 May 2019, 68 forest fires are active on the Russian territory on the area of 21,087 hectares. Firefighting efforts are underway," the press service said.

Wintershall and Dea of Mikhail Fridman complete merger

MOSCOW, May 2. /TASS/: The deal of German company BASF and LetterOne owned by Russian businessman Mikhail Fridman on the merger of their oil and gas assets, Wintershall and Dea, was closed on May 1, the companies said in a statement.

The merger was endorsed by all relevant authorities and shareholders, Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer of the new company Mario Mehren said.

Four injured after man opens gunfire in Moscow

MOSCOW, May 2. /TASS/: Police have detained a man who went on a shooting spree in Moscow, wounding four people, the Interior Ministry’s press service told TASS on Thursday.

The shooting occurred at 1.00 a.m. in the town of Moskovsky, in Moscow’s southwest. Police, who arrived at the scene, found out that a conflict had broken out at a dog area among several citizens.

"One of them rushed home, took a pump-action shotgun, according to preliminary information, and shot his opponents several times. Four people were wounded," the police said.

WADA successfully retrieves doping samples from Moscow lab

MOSCOW, April 30. /TASS/: Experts of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) have successfully retrieved doping samples from the Moscow laboratory, the WADA press service informed on Friday.

"WADA can confirm that a five-person team has successfully retrieved 2,262 samples from the laboratory, which had been split into A and B samples and contained within 4,524 collection bottles," the press service stated. "The samples have now been taken out of Moscow and are on their way to a WADA-accredited laboratory outside of Russia".
