Love for cricket helped me fight off-field problems: Shami

Birmingham, Aug 2 (PTI) Indian pacer Mohammed Shami says his love for cricket helped him battle the off field problems that pegged him back a few months ago as he made an impressive comeback in the ongoing first Test against England here.

On the opening day of the first Test here, Shami took 2-64 while R Ashwin returned with figures of 4 for 60 to help India restrict England to 285-9.

UK former far-right leader Robinson freed from prison

London, Aug 1 (AFP) British former far-right leader Tommy Robinson was freed from prison today after winning a legal challenge in a case that has galvanised his supporters worldwide.

Robinson, who founded a street-level Islamophobic fringe group called the English Defence League, was serving a 13-month jail sentence.

He was jailed for contempt of court and breaching a previous suspended sentence, having used social media to live-stream outside a court in Leeds in northern England in breach of reporting restrictions around a trial.

Trump named European Union his biggest foe

When asked in a TV interview on Sunday to name his “biggest foe globally right now”, US President Donald Trump started European Union (EU), and called the body “very difficult”.

“Well I think we have a lot of foes,” Trump told CBS News at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland. “I think the European Union is a foe, what they do to us in trade. Now you wouldn’t think of the European Union but they’re a foe.”

Trump advises UK Prime Minister Theresa May to sue EU

Theresa  May  has revealed that Trump suggested her to sue EU during a private conversation.  May revealed this on the BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show.

May said: “He told me I should sue the EU.” After being prompted by a surprised Marr, May repeated: “Sue the EU, not go into negotiations with them, sue them.”

Trump expects UK in turmoil, embassy asks US citizens to keep low profile

The US President Donald Trump, talking to the reporters on Tuesday morning, said that he expects to see the country (UK) in “turmoil” when he lands there for a two-day visit.

Trump spoke to reporters on the south lawn of the White House on Tuesday morning, before boarding Marine One to begin his trip to Europe.

Healthcare worker arrested on suspicion of murdering babies

Cheshire July 3, 2018; A healthcare worker of Countess of Chester Hospital in Cheshire has been arrested by Cheshire Police on suspicion of murdering eight babies and attempting to kill six others.

According to BBC News, “Officers have been investigating the deaths of 17 newborns at the neonatal unit between March 2015 and July 2016.”

Cheshire police said the woman was arrested on Tuesday morning and taken into custody. According to The Guardian, “the address is the home of Lucy Letby, a 28-year-old nurse.”

Brexit divorce bill - £50 billion

27 June 2018; “Britain could end up paying up to £50bn for the Brexit divorce bill because the government has underestimated the costs of leaving, an influential group of MPs have warned.” Reported The Independent.

According to the Independent, Treasury’s earlier estimates missed out £10 billion of costs, including £3 billion towards the European Development Fund.
