KHARTOUM, May 15 (NNN-SUNA) – At least 676 people have been killed, due to the clashes between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), according to a report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), yesterday.

“Clashes between the Sudan Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces continued for 30 consecutive days, especially in and around Khartoum, killing at least 676 people and injuring 5,576, OCHA said.

KHARTOUM, May 13 (Xinhua) -- The Sudanese government announced Friday that it had allocated three airports to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid.

The airports in Port Sudan and Wadi Seidna, as well as Khartoum International Airport, will serve as entry points for humanitarian aid after maintenance, said the Council of Ministers, the cabinet, in a statement.

KHARTOUM, May 12 (Xinhua) -- The Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have promised to protect civilians and achieve a short-term ceasefire to facilitate emergency humanitarian assistance, as they signed the Jeddah Declaration of Commitment to Protect the Civilians of Sudan.

11 May 2023; MEMO: The UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution, Thursday, on the human rights impact of the conflict in Sudan, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Calling for an immediate cessation of violence with no pre-conditions by all parties in the fighting between the Army and a paramilitary group, the decision was passed with 18 votes in favour, 15 against, and 14 abstaining at the end of a special session on Sudan.

KHARTOUM/ANKARA, May 9 (Xinhua) -- Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council and commander-in-chief of the Sudanese Army, said on Tuesday that the Sudanese government is open to any initiative that may help relieve the suffering of the Sudanese people.

Al-Burhan made the remarks on Tuesday during phone conversations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azali Assoumani, president of the Union of the Comoros and chair of the African Union(AU), Sudan's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“We welcome the presence of representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF in the city of Jeddah, to engage in dialogue that we hope, will lead to the end of the conflict and the return of security and stability to the Republic of Sudan,” Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, said, on Twitter.

06 May 2023; MEMO: The official vehicle of Turkiye's ambassador to Sudan was hit by gunfire on Saturday, as fighting continues between the army and a paramilitary group in the capital Khartoum and its surroundings, Anadolu reports.

No casualties were reported and the source of the gunfire that hit Ismail Cobanoglu's vehicle was unclear, said Turkish diplomatic sources, speaking on condition of anonymity as they were not authorized to speak to the media.

PORT SUDAN, Sudan (AP) — Qatar flew a relief flight into Sudan carrying some 40 tons of food and left with 150 evacuees early Saturday as fighting continued between two generals vying for power in the African nation.

The Qatari Emiri Air Force C-17 Globemaster touched down in Port Sudan, some 670 kilometers (415 miles) northeast of Sudan’s violence-torn capital of Khartoum. The port city has been spared in the fighting and has become one of the few safe transit points out of the country, whether by air or by ships crossing the Red Sea heading to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

KHARTOUM, May 5 (Reuters) - General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan pledged to take Sudan to civilian rule, but after going to war last month with his former partner in a military coup, that looks a distant promise.

As his warplanes rain strikes on the capital and his troops battle the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces of rival general Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, Burhan has shown no inclination to compromise.
