China: SCO creates new space for mutually beneficial, equitable cooperation in Eurasian region: Ambassador Haque

BEIJING, Sept 17 (APP): Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), with its rich experience in multilateral cooperation and its growing number of member states, observers and dialogue partners, was opening up new space and opportunities for building a developmental space for open, mutually-beneficial and equitable cooperation in the Eurasian region.

Chinese factory churns out British flags after queen’s death

SHAOXING, China (AP) — Ninety minutes after Queen Elizabeth II died, orders for thousands of British flags started to flood into a factory south of Shanghai.

More than 100 employees at Shaoxing Chuangdong Tour Articles Co. set aside other work and put in 14-hour days starting at 7:30 a.m. making nothing but British-themed flags.

They turned out at least 500,000 the first week, according to general manager Fan Aiping.

China sanctions Raytheon, Boeing Defense CEOs over Taiwan

BEIJING (AP) — China announced sanctions on Friday against the CEOs of American defense contractors Raytheon and Boeing Defense over a major U.S. arms sale to rival Taiwan.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning did not specify what the sanctions would be against Gregory Hayes, chairman and CEO of Raytheon Technologies Corp., and Ted Colbert, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space and Security.

It wasn’t immediately clear what impact they would have on the executives or their companies, but such sanctions are often mainly symbolic in nature.

Russian-Chinese wide-body airliner project at initial phase of designing

SHANGHAI, September 15. /TASS/: Work on a joint Russian-Chinese project to create the CR929, a long-haul wide-body airliner, is in the initial stage of designing, the Pengpai information resource reported citing Chief Scientist at the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) Wu Guanghui who spoke at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in Shanghai on Thursday.

PIA offers 22 percent discount for students on flights between Pakistan-China

BEIJING, Sep 14 (APP): Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has increased student discount from 10 percent to 15 percent and an additional 7 percent discount on surcharge making a total discount of around 22 percent on the flights between Pakistan and China.

The national flag carrier has also increased baggage allowance upto 80 kilograms for the students, an official of the airline told APP here on Wednesday.

Chinese company distributes relief goods among flood-hit people in Sindh

BEIJING, Sept 12 (APP): To help flood-hit people in Sukkur, Sindh province, the PKM project team led by China State Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. (CSCEC) promptly purchased a large number of local necessities such as rice, grain, oil and sugar, and distributed among the 800 nearby flood victims.

Villagers are in desperate need of medical help in the aftermath of the floods, which have caused outbreaks of diarrhoea, skin and respiratory infections, malaria, dengue fever and other diseases.

China ready to protect common interests with Russia

Death toll from western China earthquake rises to 93

BEIJING (AP) — The death toll from a major earthquake in western China rose to 93 as the search for survivors continued, authorities said.

A magnitude 6.8 quake hit Sichuan province last week, with much of the damage concentrated in Ganze Tibetan Autonomous Region in the province.

Another 25 people remain missing as of Sunday evening, rescuers said, according to state broadcaster CCTV. The search for survivors and recovery of bodies were complicated by heavy rains and the risks of landslides, which forced some residents to move to temporary shelters.

COVID rules cast clouds over Hong Kong schools
