Mumbai, Jun 23 (PTI) The CRPF jawan killed in an encounter with militants in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday hailed from Solapur in Maharashtra and authorities were working to bring his mortal remains to his native place.

An official from Solapur confirmed that CRPF jawan Sunil Kale, a resident of Pangaon village in Barshi tehsil of the district, was killed in the encounter in Pulwama.

He joined the service in 2000 and was posted in Jammu and Kashmir since some time, the official said.

Jammu, June 22 (PTI) An Army jawan was killed on Monday as Pakistani troops opened fire and lobbed mortar shells at forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

The heavy Pakistani firing and shelling were reported along the LoC in Poonch district's Krishna Ghati sector and Rajouri's Nowshera sector, and along the IB in Kathua district, the officials said.

Srinagar, Jun 19: Six Kashmiris were killed on Tuesday in an encounter with Indian security forces in Pulwama and Shopian dist of the Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

Ladakh; 16 June 2020 (UMMN): At least 20 Indian troops have been killed by PLA on India-China LOC in a disputed Himalayan border area of Ladakh, Indian officials say. Indian army initially said three of its soldiers had been killed but later on Tuesday, officials said a number of critically injured soldiers had died of their wounds.

Srinagar, Jun 16 (UMMN): Three Kashmiris were killed on Tuesday in an encounter with Indian security forces in Shopian dist of Indian Administered Kashmir, Indian officials said.

Jammu, Jun 16 (PTI) An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 hit Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Tuesday, officials said, the third to hit the union territory in three days.

However, there were no reports of any damage, they said.

The earthquake occurred at 7 AM and its epicenter was is Tajikistan, according to the officials.

Strong tremors were felt in most parts of the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, Kishtwar and Doda districts. Tremors were also felt in Jammu, they said.

Jammu, June 11 (PTI) An Army personnel was killed and a civilian injured as the Pakistani Army heavily shelled villages and forward posts along the LoC in Rajouri and Poonch districts on Thursday, officials said.

This is fourth consecutive day of firing and shelling by the Pakistan Army.

Officials said the Pakistan Army opened fire and shelled civilian areas and forward posts in Nowshera sector this morning, leaving an Army man dead and a villager injured.

Indian troops guarding the borderline retaliated resulting in heavy exchanges, they said.

Srinagar, Jun 10 (PTI) As many as 28 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel posted in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, officials said.

They said the personnel were found infected during a contact-tracing exercise after the death of a 44-year-old coronavirus-infected constable on June 6.

The officials said they had collected samples of 75 personnel from the 90th battalion where the deceased constable, a nursing assistant, was posted.

Jammu, Jun 10 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir administration has constituted seven task forces for efficient and speedy implementation of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan' (ABA) in the Union Territory, with a focus on economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, an official spokesman said on Wednesday.

The task forces, which have been constituted under the chairmanship of various administrative secretaries, are mandated with the task of ensuring hassle-free implementation of all the elements of ABA in mission mode.

Jammu, June 8 (PTI) An Army man was found dead under suspicious circumstances along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Monday, officials said.

The body was found near a forward post along the LoC, they said.
