Pakistan PM leaves for Tehran to mitigate tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia

Islamabad, Oct 13 (PTI) Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan left for Tehran on Sunday on a day-long visit to help mitigate tensions between bitter regional rivals Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Tension has been simmering between the two countries ever since the start of attacks on Yemen in 2015 by a coalition-led by Riyadh and execution of a prominent Shia cleric in the Gulf Kingdom in 2016.

IOK people suffer immensely as lockdown continues on 69th day

ISLAMABAD, Oct 12 (APP): In Indian occupied Kashmir, as the strict military lockdown imposed by the Indian government entered 69th running day, today, the people of Kashmir Valley and Muslim majority areas of Jammu region continue to suffer immensely.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Amid suspension of mobile and internet services and absence of public transport, the residents are facing acute shortage of basic items of daily use including food and medicines.

Pakistan fully supports Turkey’s concerns on terrorism

ISLAMABAD, Oct 11 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday said Pakistan stands in full support and solidarity with Turkey and understands its concerns relating to terrorism.

In a telephonic call to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the prime minister conveyed Pakistan’s support and solidarity.

Pakistan says no intention to join arms race but firm to fight aggression

ISLAMABAD, Oct 10 (APP): Pakistan on Thursday said it had no intention to join arms race in the region, however warned to respond with full force in case of any external threat against its sovereignty.

“Pakistan is not willing to be part of arms race, unless it is compelled to take steps for its defence,” the Foreign Office spokesman said at a weekly press briefing, in response to a query on handing over of recent batch of Rafale fighter jets by France to India.

Karachi, Oct 10 (PTI) Pakistan's head coach Misbah-ul-Haq says the humiliating 0-3 hammering in a T20 series against a second-string Sri Lanka has opened his eyes to the fact that there is something seriously wrong with the country's cricket system.

Misbah, who has faced criticism since becoming the first man in Pakistan cricket to hold two top posts of head coach as well as chief selector, also rued the lack of talent at domestic level.

Pakistan says Khan could visit Saudi, Iran, after U.S. mediation request

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan is likely to visit Saudi Arabia and Iran, the foreign office in Islamabad said on Thursday, weeks after Islamabad said Washington had asked it to mediate with Tehran.

“The possibility of a visit of the prime minister to Saudi Arabia and Iran is on the cards and I will update you as things unfold,” foreign office spokesman, Mohammad Fasisal, told a news briefing.

Japan extends support for establishment of 3 NII Container Scanning Terminals at Karachi, Bin Qasim ports

ISLAMABAD, Oct 9 (APP): The Government of Japan has extended assistance to Pakistan Customs and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for establishment of three new state of the art Non-Intrusive Inspection (NII) Containers Scanning Terminals at East and West Warf in Karachi Port and Port Bin Qasim.

Under the Japanese grant assistance, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) implemented “The Project for Security Improvement in Karachi Port and Port Bin Oasim” amount of JPY 1.877 billion (approximately Rs2.78 billion), Japan Embassy here announced.

Malaysian PM urges ways to resolve Kashmir dispute

ISLAMABAD, Oct 8 (APP): Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad while stressing the ways and means to resolve the Kashmir dispute has said that he had also raised the issue with Indian fascist prime minister Narendra Modi when they met in Vladivostok, Russia.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr Mahathir talking to reporters at the Parliament lobby in Kuala Lumpur said, “My speech (at the United Nation General Assembly) was a follow-up where we don’t want to see any violence and that any dispute between countries should be solved amicably.”

FM asks India to stop human right violations in IOK

MULTAN, Oct 7 (APP): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Monday asked India to stop human right violations and use of pellet guns against unarmed people in the occupied Kashmir.

Addressing the concluding ceremony of three-day 780th Urs of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya here, he said the media should be allowed to visit the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) to expose the ground situation there.
