India: IIT-K takes a big step in foray of research with NCG

Kanpur: The IIT-K has taken a big step in the foray of research with the full swing operations of the National Centre of Geodesy here.

The department set up in the year 2019 was equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

It was commissioned to perform the second Project Monitoring and Management Committee assembly on September 16.

With the advanced infrastructure now, the NCG visions to nucleate and nourish education, along with expanding the scope of R&D ventures in the field of Geodesy.

India: Vishakji posted as New DM of Kanpur Nagar district

Kanpur: Reportedly, the district magistrate of Kanpur Nagar district has been changed. The 2011-batch IAS officer Vishakhji has been made the new District Magistrate here. He is a B.Tech. He belongs to Kerala.

At present, he had been serving as Special Secretary of UP Chief Minister.

He was earlier posted as DM Hamirpur. Served as Chief Development Officer at districts like Varanasi and Meerut respectively.

Married with Apoorva Dwivedi two years ago. She has been posted as DM, Fatehpur.

India: Girl raped in sleeper bus in UP

Firozabad (UP), Sep 21 (PTI) A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped in a sleeper bus when she was on her way to Auraiya along with her family, police said on Tuesday.

Based on a complaint lodged by the girl's mother, a case was registered against two people at Shikohabad police station on Tuesday morning and the main accused, Ashu, was arrested.

The girl had boarded the bus with her family from Badarpur at 11 pm on Monday.

India: 16-yr-old girl abducted in UP's Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar (UP), Sep 22 (PTI) A 16-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by three men from near her house in Shukartal village here, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday when the girl had gone out of her house to throw garbage, they said.

In the police complaint, the girl's father accused Rajpal, Krishan Dutt and Pinku of kidnapping his daughter, police said.

The three reside in the same village and are absconding, they added.

India: 16 trains to remain cancelled on Jhansi-Kanpur section

Kanpur: As many as 16 trains have been cancelled or diverted as the single line section will be blocked for the movement of trains till September 28.

Giving information about this news, Deepak Kumar, Chief Information Officer, Northern Railways, said several trains have been cancelled given the blockage.

Operations of 16 trains will be stopped. Apart from this, several trains including the Lucknow LTT Special will run on diverted routes during this period.

India: Students confuse at missing lines of passage in online exam

Kanpur: It is reasonable on the part of the schools that they have been conducting their online examinations in just half an hour.

On Wednesday morning an eminent secondary school in the Jajmau area oversaw its first examination of moral science subject for Class VIII.

Though some students faced initial trouble in getting an online question sheet, the error in the very first question was overlooked.

The class teacher is a considerate lady who had to read two lines verbally as the answer was available in these lines.

India: Mini containers come for better transport structure in Kanpur

Kanpur: The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in Mumbai dispatches of dwarf or mini containers to Kanpur. The assignment was flagged off by the Union Shiping Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal towards the Inland Container Depot in Uttar Pradesh.

This Port Trust shipment fosters an efficient system for streamlining rail movement of cargo, claimed Central Railway. It will help for a competitive cost advantage by lowering hinterland logistics.

Dwarf containers are compact and are about 2.16 feet (660 mm) shorter than the traditional ISO canisters.

India: Green Park to host test match on Nov 25: UPCA

Kanpur: Green Park will once more be an attraction for cricket fans in November. This is so because the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has decided to host a Test match here on November 25.

It has also been reported that Rajeev Shukla, Vice-President, BCCI, has approved it, a top official of the cricket control board has ratified the idea of the test match possibly against New Zealand.

As we are well aware of the fact that the city has been a Test match centre of the cricket matches so the cricket association has shown a preference for hosting the match here.

India: Minor raped by 13-year-old in UP

Bareilly (UP), Sep 20 (PTI) A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 13-year-old boy in a village in this district, police said on Monday.

Police have registered a case in the connection and apprehended the accused, SP (Rural) Raj Kumar Agarwal told the media here.

The medical examination of the survivor has confirmed rape, police said.

According to the girl's statement, she was going to throw garbage three days ago when she met the accused who dragged her to a hut and raped her, police said.
