India: Traders boycott Vyapar Bandhu meeting in absence of officers

Kanpur: Things can go better if everyone is responsible. In a meeting of Vyapar Bandhu held at DM auditorium here on Saturday, several officials did not attend the meeting. As a result, the annoyed traders boycotted the meeting.

After a gap of three months, the meeting was organised to discuss over 17 points. Only 5 points were taken up.

The moment fifth point regarding laying down of underground cable was raised, one junior engineer of KESCO was present.

India: Kanpur metro coaches to be manufactured in Gujarat

Kanpur: Equipped with every kind of facilities Kanpur Metro train coaches are being manufactured at Sanvli in Gujarat.

After thorough analysis its design has been finalised. Its design papers have been despatched to the RDSO for approval.

It will also be fitted with communication- based train  control (CBTC) system.  

India has one DNA and it is Hindu: RSS leader

Lucknow, Feb 26 (PTI) Senior RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale on Friday said there is only one "DNA in Bharat" and that is "Hindu".

"In the Sangh, Hindu is a "rashtravachak" word. There is one DNA in Bharat and the name of that DNA is Hindu. Hindutva has an identity and those terming themselves secular have propagated it as communal, despite the fact that it is a diverse idea," he said, adding that whatever the RSS says on Hindutva should be "understood".

India: Jajmau's old bridge to get its maintenance soon

Kanpur: A very famous saying goes thus: Every dog has its days. In light of this mumbling, the old bridge of Jajmau is going to be maintained within the first week of the next month of March 2021.

A news report in this regard has established it. It was indeed a long-pending demand of the area people and the politicians as well.

Repairing of its broken road at places needs to be done at the earliest. In view of all the hue and cry, the authorities concerned have awakened from a deep slumber.

India: Uttar Pradesh CM meets Australian high commissioner

Lucknow, Feb 25 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met Australia's High Commissioner to India Barry O'Farrell AO on Thursday and apprised him about the significant work being done in the state.

Adityanath told the high commissioner that in the UP Investors Summit organised in 2018, investment proposals worth Rs 4.68 lakh crore were received.

India: Online & offline exams stay for students this academic year

Kanpur: It is for the first time both the online and the offline examinations are going to be held this academic year.

The students up to class VI are sure to appear through online examinations while the students from Class VII onwards will be appearing at their final exams at schools.

The junior students are appearing relaxed while the senior students are somewhat confused and worried due to the offline method. They are burning the midnight oil to do better in the subjects.

India: 11-year-old girl raped in UP's Banda

Banda (UP), Feb 24 (PTI) An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her uncle in a village here, following which the accused was arrested, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Monday night when Shubham reached the girl's house and later took her to a secluded place and raped her, SHO Jaishyam Shukla said.

When the minor's parents woke up on Tuesday morning, they searched for the girl, who was found in Shubham's house, he said.

An FIR into the matter was registered and the accused was arrested, police added.

India: UP Assembly passes bill against religious conversion

Lucknow, Feb 24 (PTI) Amid protests by the Opposition, the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed by voice vote a bill aimed at curbing religious conversions by fraudulent or any other undue means, including through marriage.

The Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Bill, 2021 seeks to replace the ordinance promulgated in November last year that provides for imprisonment up to 10 years and a maximum fine of Rs 50,000 for violators.

India: Traders think GST provisions are too tougher

Kanpur: Traders seem unhappy with the new provisions of Goods and Services Tax after the new budget. It has turned out to be a tough tax structure. So they raise demand for bringing change in the restrictions.

They have come forward with their suggestions. They point out their difficulties related to the tax structure.
