India: 2 fake call centres busted in Noida, Delhi

Hyderabad, Dec 2 (PTI): The Cyberabad Police here on Thursday said they have busted two fake call centres in New Delhi and Noida and arrested 28 people, including several women, for allegedly duping citizens by posing as employees of a State-run bank and an app-based loan platform.

Police raided the fake call centre in Delhi and arrested a gang of 14 involved in as many cases in Cyberabad Commissionerate and 195 cases all over the country, Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Stephen Raveendra told reporters here.

India: UP Govt left people to die during Covid lockdown: Akhilesh

Lalitpur (UP), Dec 2 (PTI) Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday attacked the Uttar Pradesh government, alleging that it left people to die and stopped them from entering the state while they were walking back home during the coronavirus lockdown.

The pictures seen during the Covid pandemic "were not even seen during the Partition", he alleged during a rally at Ginaut Bagh of Lalitpur district.

"Who can forget the pictures when a lockdown was imposed and our labourer brothers had to come from other places," Yadav said.

India: 3 Kashmiri students move Allahabad HC for bail

Prayagraj, Dec 2 (PTI) Three Kashmiri students, studying engineering in an Agra college and arrested on sedition and cyber-terrorism charges, have moved the Allahabad High Court directly for bail, saying that lawyers in the Taj city have refused to take up their case for bail in the sessions court.

The three students were arrested in October this year for cheering Pakistan following the neighbouring country's victory in a T20 Cricket World Cup match against India.

India: Leopard still at large, forest department monitors its stride

Kanpur: The photo of a two-year-old male leopard that has been captured in the night vision camera installed at the VSSD College campus hints at the negligence of the forest department.

The wild animal weighing about 50 to 60 kgs roams in the night while the team members employed in catching the leopard rests reportedly during the night.

The time of capturing the wild animal's at 2.15 am and its movement was timed at about 2.45 am.It was seen going towards a school after coming out of the dense thickets.

India: Block office employees run after goat to secure papers

Kanpur: A bizarre incident from a Block office in the district has appeared. A few government employees sitting outside the office where soaking under the sun in the colder winter weather.

Meanwhile, a black goat entered the office suddenly. It took a file of papers in its mouth from a table and ran off.

Unaware of this scene, the employees were not paying attention. But, when they noticed that the goat was running away with the file and eating the papers, they looked disturbed.

India: Minor girl gangraped in UP's Ballia

Ballia (UP), Dec 2 (PTI) A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by two men of her village in Nagra area here, police said on Thursday.

According to the FIR registered under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act on Wednesday, Prince Chauhan and Manish Rajbhar allegedly raped the girl some days ago, a police officer said.

The exact date of the incident was not mentioned in the FIR, the officer said.

India: Omicron scare dwindles hopes of leather exporters

Kanpur: Facing the sting of the negative growth during the last two years, finished leather exporters here have fallen to dread of fresh variant.

The buyers were unwilling to move in the midst of deadly virus. Therefore the exporters have now leaning on Chennai Fair in Jan 2022.

Even Germany's Spoga Fair in February at Cologne is not exempt from the virus impact.

The Omicron scare has hit the leather industry badly. It has noticed a 60% loss in sales and production. 

Barely 40% business is left for the leather exporters to manage, as they maintain. 

India: Forest department failing to trace leopard's location

Kanpur: Ferocious leopard was seen twice in Nawabganj and its adjacent areas trace. It was reportedly first noticed in the thickets behind the VSSD College campus.

Its exact location at the moment remains untraced as the forest department officials are still tracking its whereabouts.

The CCTV camera that caught vision of leopard was positioned in college campus.

The forest department has put on 6 night vision cameras in the jungle area. While 4 night vision cameras were placed at Lav Kush Park around Ganga Barrage.

India: Cricket Test match helps city's hotel business tremendously

Kanpur: Though the Test match is over and both the cricket teams have left the city for another match, there was ample business.

According to the news, the sale of tickets on all five days remained bright business as the spectators crowd in all the different galleries was not below expectation.

It was reportedly said that about one crore rupees have been earned despite approval of only 75% seating capacity.

Cricket fans from nearby districts gathered at Green Park in large numbers, as news reports pointed.

India: Lawyer arrested for raping minor in UP's Bareilly

Bareilly (UP), Dec 1 (PTI) A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a lawyer in Baradari area here, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday when the girl was playing outside her house and Taurn alias Govind reached there and took the girl to her office and raped her, SSP Rohit Singh Sajwan said.

The lawyer also threatened the girl with dire consequences if she informed anyone about the incident.
