Israel rejoins the African Union as an observer state

ADDIS ABABA, July 24 (NNN-AGENCIES) — For the first time since 2002, Israel’s ambassador to Ethiopia, Aleleign Admasu presented his credentials as observer to the African Union.

The African Union is the largest and most important organization on the African continent whose members are the 54 countries in Africa.

Boat carrying 45 Syrian refugees sinks southeast of Crete Island

24 July 2021; MEMO: A boat carrying 45 Syrian refugees sank southeast of the Greek island of Crete, Turkish authorities said today, Anadolu Agency reports.

The boat went down at 9.10 pm. local time (1800GMT) on Thursday in the search and rescue area of Turkey due to severe weather conditions, the Transport and Infrastructure Ministry said in a statement.

The boat was sailing to Italy before it ran out of fuel, the statement also said.

'We will not accept foreign soldiers in Iraq': Iraq resistance

24 July 2021; MEMO: The Iraqi Resistance Coordination Committee, which consists of four Shia groups affiliate with Iran, pledged on Friday to fight any foreign soldiers in the country, Anadolu Agency reported.

This came just hours after the launch of the fourth round of strategic dialogue in Washington, during which Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein stated that his country requires the US arming and training programme.

Shaked's party to leave government if settlement freeze is agreed

24 July 2021; MEMO: Israeli Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked has confirmed that her Yamina party will leave the coalition government if it agreed to a request from the Biden administration to implement a building freeze in West Bank settlements, Israeli media reported on Friday.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with the Israeli Makor Rishon newspaper, Shaked spoke about her party's red lines.

Libyan authorities to probe clashes in Tripoli

TRIPOLI, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Libya's Interior Ministry on Friday said it would start to investigate the armed clashes between two of its security forces that broke out in the capital city a day earlier.

The ministry has been closely following Thursday's events "which led to heavy shootings" in central Tripoli between patrols of the Stabilization Support Department and the Deterrence Department of Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime, it said in a statement.

Supreme Court urges Israel gov't to clarify position on evacuation of Khan Al-Ahmar

22 July 2021; MEMO: The Supreme Court of Israel has given Naftali Bennett's government a deadline until next September to clarify its position on the evacuation order issued to the Palestinian Bedouin community of Khan Al-Ahmar in occupied East Jerusalem.

The text of the court's decision issued yesterday stated that the court has granted the government until 5 September to render its position regarding carrying out the order to evacuate Khan Al-Ahmar community, adding that this would not be extended again.

Turkey and Algeria discuss cooperation and support for Palestine
