Iran: Europeans must act fast or we will move away from nuclear deal

Zarif’s remarks came on the sidelines of the international conference on “Unilateralism and International Law” in Tehran.

The Palestinian university teams came 86th in the international challenge.

Political outsider Kais Saied sworn in as Tunisia's new president

TUNIS (Reuters) - Kais Saied, a political outsider and retired law professor, was sworn in as Tunisian president on Wednesday after he won a landslide victory in this month’s election.

Saied’s victory delivered a heavy blow to a governing elite accused of failing to improve living standards or end corruption since the 2011 revolution that introduced democracy and ushered in the North African country.

Iraq violated human rights in protest crackdown: U.N. mission

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Iraqi authorities committed serious human rights violations and abuses in their response to a wave of anti-government protests earlier this month that saw 149 civilians killed, the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said.

In a report by its Human Rights Office published late on Monday, UNAMI said there was evidence that security forces had used excessive force against protesters and made mass arrests. There were also reports that security forces had denied protesters medical treatment, it said.

Russia, Turkey seal power in northeast Syria with new accord

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Russia and Turkey reached an agreement Tuesday that would cement their power in Syria, deploying their forces across nearly its entire northeastern border to fill the void left by President Donald Trump’s abrupt withdrawal of U.S. forces.

The accord caps a dramatic and swift transformation of the Syrian map unleashed by Trump’s decision two weeks ago to remove the American soldiers.

Mass media must make special contribution to struggle against extremism — Lavrov

LIMASSOL /Cyprus/, October 22. /TASS/: Mass media bear special responsibility for success in the struggle against the proliferation of extremist ideologies, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a message to the 15th international conference on the role of mass media in resistance to terrorism, which opened in Limassol on Tuesday.

"Media resources bear special responsibility for preventing the proliferation of extremist ideologies, calls for hatred and violence, and fake news, which undermine the stability and information security of countries," the message reads.

To her colleagues in the Future Syria Party and Kurdish communities in Syria’s northeast more broadly, her killing became a symbol of betrayal by the United States.

Iran Ready To Settle Tensions With Saudi Arabia

TEHRAN, Oct 22 (NNN-IRNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said, he is ready to travel to Saudi Arabia to discuss resolution of tensions.

“If condition is provided, I would be ready to travel to Riyadh, to settle differences” between the two countries, Zarif was quoted as saying by Press TV.

“Tehran welcomes any initiative seeking to ease tensions in the region, and it will cooperate (with other states) to end Yemen’s war,” he noted.

Iran believes end of the war in Yemen will primarily help the Yemeni people, the Iranian minister said.

Morocco Hosts Second International Conference On Justice

RABAT, Morocco, Oct 22 (NNN-MAP) – The 2nd International Conference on Justice, kicked off on Monday, in Morocco’s central city of Marrakech, with the presence of more than 800 representatives from nearly 70 countries.

Held under the theme “Justice and Investment,” the two-day event is bringing together over 40 justice ministers and several senior officials of high judicial councils and prosecutors.
