Malaysians in Sri Lanka advised against participating in protests, rallies

KUANTAN (Pahang, Malaysia), July 17 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysians living in Sri Lanka are advised against participating in any rallies or protests, especially ahead of the presidential election.

Foreign Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said although the situation in Sri Lanka now was under control, Malaysians still needed to take care of their safety.

“Malaysians (in Sri Lanka) are also advised to be constantly in contact with Malawakil (the Malaysian Representative Office) and not to easily believe in rumours they heard.

Deputy SCO Sec Gen attends 28th China Lanzhou Investment & Trade Fair

Pakistan Floods; Chinese FM expresses deep grief over damages

BEIJING, July 16 (APP): China’s State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a message of sympathy to Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on the ongoing floods in Pakistan.

In his message, Wang Yi expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of life and property in several areas of Pakistan due to floods, CRI reported.

He expressed deep sympathy with the families of those who died in the flood, the injured and the affected people in the disaster areas.

Yellen says she had 'productive' meetings on Russian oil price cap

NUSA DUA, Indonesia, July 16 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Saturday she had productive meetings about a proposed price cap on Russian oil with a host of countries on the sidelines of a meeting of the finance chiefs of the Group of 20 major economies.

Yellen said her bilateral meetings and the overall G20 sessions in Indonesia focused on the human and economic cost of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, with the United States and other countries "unequivocal in condemning their (Russia's) shameful actions."

Cambodia's ruling party holds extraordinary conference to set action plan for 2023

PHNOM PENH, July 16 (Xinhua) -- The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) on Saturday held an extraordinary conference of its Central Committee on Saturday to set out an action plan for 2023, the year in which the country's next general elections will be held.

The party's honorary president Samdech Heng Samrin said, in his opening speech, that the CPP's landslide victory in the commune election last month clearly reflected people's confidence in the party's leadership and political programs.

World's largest carbon trading market mirrors China's green commitment

SHANGHAI, July 16 (Xinhua) -- China's national carbon market saw its total trading volume reach 194 million tonnes since its launch one year ago, according to the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange (SEEE) statistics on Saturday.

Experts noted that the market, the world's largest in terms of the amount of greenhouse gas emissions covered, is expected to include more enterprises from emission-intensive sectors and see increasingly active trading as companies improve green awareness.

China: Macao extends lockdown to curb biggest COVID-19 outbreak

HONG KONG (AP) — The Chinese gambling enclave of Macao on Saturday extended its lockdown by five days as it grapples with the biggest outbreak of the coronavirus in over two years.

Authorities said that industries and commercial companies will remain closed until July 23. The lockdown, which began July 11, had initially been set to expire Sunday.

As part of the lockdown, authorities have suspended dine-in services and ordered all residents to avoid leaving their homes unless absolutely necessary. Those who need to go out must wear KN95 masks or similar.

China: SCO Secretary General to pay two-day visit of Pakistan on July 21-22

BEIJING, July 15 (APP): Secretary General of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming will pay a two-day visit of Pakistan on July 21-22.

I plan to visit Pakistan and India before going to Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, for foreign ministers meeting by end of this month, the secretary general told media after a visit of five member-states of the SCO.

He said the relevant arrangements for his meetings with the Pakistani leadership are underway.

No Cases Of Monkeypox Among Malaysian Pilgrims In Saudi Arabia – Minister Khairy

KUALA LUMPUR, July 15 (NNN-Bernama) — Malaysian Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin confirmed that so far no Malaysian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia have been infected with monkeypox.

Speaking to reporters here Friday, Khairy said as far as the MOH knew, the Malaysian pilgrims in the Holy Land were in good health.

On smallpox cases in neighbouring Singapore, Khairy said the information received by the MOH found three cases of local infection were detected in Singapore with one of them having a history of travel to Malaysia.
