Malaysia: Singapore hangs first woman in 19 years after she was convicted of trafficking 31 grams of heroin

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Singapore conducted its first execution of a woman in 19 years on Friday and its second hanging this week for drug trafficking despite calls for the city-state to cease capital punishment for drug-related crimes.

Activists said another execution is planned next week.

Saridewi Djamani, 45, was sentenced to death in 2018 for trafficking about 31 grams (1 ounce) of diamorphine, or pure heroin, the Central Narcotics Bureau said. It said the amount was “sufficient to feed the addiction of about 370 abusers for a week.”

Chinese companies invited to set up drone industry in special technology zones in Pakistan

Japan: Russian Defense Minister Shoigu meets Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang

Five Killed In Road Accident In Southern Mongolia

ULAN BATOR, Jul 27 (NNN-XINHUA) – Five people were killed in a traffic accident, in the southern Mongolian province of Umnugovi, last night, the country’s Traffic Police Department said, today.

The accident occurred when a car crashed into a truck, on a paved road in the territory of Khankhongor soum (administrative subdivision) of the province, the police department said, adding that, all five people in the car lost their lives immediately, at the scene.

Vietnam and Israel sign free trade agreement

25 July 2023; MEMO: Vietnam and Israel signed a free trade agreement on Tuesday, predicting it would quickly boost annual bilateral trade by nearly 50 per cent, Reuters reports.

The agreement was signed in Israel between the two countries' trade ministers after seven years of negotiations, Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade said in a statement.
