Italy shuts stores across country to fight virus

ROME, March 12 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Italy shut all stores except for pharmacies and food shops in a desperate bid to halt the spread of a coronavirus that has killed 827 in the the country in just over two weeks.

Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced the latest wave of restrictions in a dramatic appeal to the nation that came with the country of 60 million battling its biggest crisis in generations.

Covid-19: US House leaders unveil coronavirus Bill

WASHINGTON, March 12 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Democrats in the US House of Representatives unveiled a broad package of proposals to help Americans affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The legislation would grant workers 14 days of paid sick leave and up to three months of paid family and medical leave, a summary of the Bill shows.

Qatar Confirms 238 New COVID-19 Cases

DOHA, Mar 12 (NNN-QNA) – Qatar, on Wednesday, announced that, 238 new cases of COVID-19 were registered in the country.

All the new cases detected had interacted with people previously identified as infected.

Qatar, on Monday, announced a nationwide closure of all schools and universities, “until further notice,” amid concerns about the COVID-19.

Qatar’s health ministry had earlier said, it temporarily banned the entry of travellers from 14 countries.

Kuwait To Suspend Commercial Flights

KUWAIT, Mar 12 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait decided, on Wednesday, to suspend commercial flights to and from the country, starting from tomorrow, Mar 13.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Kuwaiti government, on Wednesday (yesterday).

At a news conference, following the meeting, Tareq Al-Mezrem, the government spokesman, said that, the decision is part of efforts to confront spread of COVID-19.

British health minister tests positive for coronavirus

London; 11 March 2020 (UMMN): British health minister Nadine Dorries has been diagnosed with the coronavirus, raising fears about the potential spread of the disease in Westminster. She is in self-isolation.

Dorries' diagnosis comes as the UK's coronavirus cases near 400, while six people have died of the virus in the country.

Turkey's first coronavirus patient confirmed

11 Mar 2020; MEMO: A Turkish citizen with high fever and cough symptoms was diagnosed with the coronavirus following tests, making him the country’s first confirmed diagnosis, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said early on Wednesday.

The male patient is in good health condition and his family and people who had close contact with him are under observation.

Iran’s trade minister recovers from coronavirus

11 Mar 2020; MEMO: Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines and Business Reza Rahmani recovered from the novel coronavirus Tuesday after receiving treatment at a hospital, according to media reports.

He was transferred to the intensive care unit after his health deteriorated, and the doctors’ efforts improved his condition and he was discharged from the hospital, according to the semi-official Fars news agency, which cited the Rahmani’s advisor Ali Akbar Rezaei, who said the minister is convalescing at home.

India: Kerala govt puts 45 Italy returnees under observation

Kochi, Mar 11 (PTI) Stepping up efforts to check the spread of coronavirus in Kerala, the state government has sent at least 45 people who returned here from COVID-19 hit Italy to various health facilities, official sources said on Wednesday.

While 35 people including two children and two pregnant womenhave been shifted to a Government district hospital in Aluva, 10 suffering from fever and breathing problems have been admitted to the Kalamassery Medical College Hospital, they said.

Israel: COVID-19 Cases Rise To 70

JERUSALEM, Mar 11 (NNN-MA’AN) – A total of 20 Israelis tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday (yesterday), bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 70, according to the Israeli Ministry of Health.

Among the 20 new cases are 16, who recently returned from Europe, one returnee from the United States, and three who had close contact with previous confirmed cases.

It is worth noting that a 9-year-old boy from the coastal city of Tel Aviv, who returned from Madrid on Mar 2, was confirmed to be infected, the first child case in Israel.
