JERUSALEM, Mar 7 (NNN-MA’AN) – Israel’s Ministry of Health announced that, four more Israelis were diagnosed with the coronavirus, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients in Israel to 21.

The ministry noted that the four are currently under medical quarantine. In addition, passengers who were on board the same flights with the four were asked to undergo quarantine.

Two of the newly diagnosed patients are around the age of 50, residents of central Israel. One of them returned from Madrid on Feb 27, and the other returned from Zurich on Mar 4.

SEOUL, Mar 7 (NNN-YONHAP) – South Korea confirmed 483 more cases of the COVID-19 on Saturday (today), raising the total number of infections to 6,767.

As of midnight local time, the number of infected patients totaled 6,767, up 483 from 24 hours ago. One more death was reported, lifting the death toll to 44.

Korea Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) updates the data twice a day at 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time.

GENEVA, Mar 7 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Additional five countries — the Philippines, New Zealand, Ireland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia — have seen local transmission of COVID-19, according to the daily situation report on COVID-19 released by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Friday evening.

Compared to the previous day, the transmission classification of those five countries have been revised from “imported cases only” to “local transmission,” making the total number of countries and regions where local transmission emerged to 41.

WASHINGTON, March 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) — US lawmakers passed an emergency $8.3 billion spending bill to combat the coronavirus as the number of cases surged in the country’s northwest and deaths reached 12.

The Senate gave sweeping bipartisan support to the funding one day after the House passed the bill, so that it could be quickly sent to the White House for President Donald Trump’s signature.

The amount is significantly above the $2.5 billion President Donald Trump had initially requested, but he later said he was happy to accept more.

GENEVA, March 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) — World health officials have warned that countries are not taking the coronavirus crisis seriously enough, as outbreaks surged across Europe and in the United States where medical workers sounded warnings over a “disturbing” lack of hospital preparedness.

Global markets tumbled again over concerns about the impact on the economy and as countries took more drastic steps to prevent contagion of a disease that has killed over 3,300 people and infected nearly 100,000 in some 85 nations.

ROME, March 6 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Italy reported 41 new deaths from the novel coronavirus, its highest single-day total to date, bringing the number of fatalities in Europe’s most affected country to 148.

The number of cases also jumped by a new high of 769, reaching 3,858 over the past two weeks.

The latest figures mean Italy has the second-most deaths behind China, where the new virus was first detected at the end of last year.

All of Italy’s 22 regions have now been affected, with the data showing the virus had reached the Aosta Valley on the French border.

05 Mar 2020; MEMO: Iran yesterday cancelled Friday prayers across all the country’s cities this week amid the country’s growing coronavirus outbreak.

The move came after the Iranian National Committee on Combatting Coronavirus recently announced 586 new infected people and 15 deaths cases. According to official data, there are a total of 2,922 infected people and 92 death cases across Iran – the highest death toll in the world outside of China.

NEW YORK, Mar 5 (NNN-AGENCIES) – U.S. health authorities reported a total of 108 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and a death toll of nine in the country.

New Hampshire, Georgia and North Carolina were the most recent to have joined the list of states with first confirmed cases reported.

All nine deaths occurred in the Seattle area of Washington state. A long-term care facility in the state’s Kirkland city is considered to be the site of an outbreak, as a growing number of confirmed cases are from there.
