India: Centre, BJP trying to incite violence in Bengal: Mamata

Kolkata, Jun 10 (PTI) West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged on Monday that the Centre and the cadres of the ruling BJP were trying to incite violence in the state and conspiring to bring down her government.

She also said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was trying to throttle her voice as she was the only one in the country to protest against them.

India: MLA marries woman who had lodged rape case against him

Agartala, June 10 (PTI) MLA Dhananjoy Tripura of Tripura's ruling party IPFT has married a woman who had accused him of raping and deceiving her.

"Yes, I have married the woman at Chaturdas Devata temple in Agartala," Tripura told reporters here Monday.

The Indigenous People's Front of Triupura MLA's counsel Amit Debbarma said the legislator married the woman at Chaturdas Devta Temple on Sunday.

India: Mauritian woman, friend looted on Yamuna Epressway

Mathura (UP), Jun 10 (PTI) A Mauritian woman and her Indian friend were allegedly looted by three motorcycle-borne men on the Yamuna Expressway here, police said Monday.

The incident took place on Sunday near Saitgarhi village under Naujhil police station limits, Superintendent of Police, Mathura rural, Aditya Kumar Shukla said.

Plodie Celine and her friend Anup stopped at the expressway after their car broke down. The accused reached there and forced the duo to part with their belongings, Shukla said.

India: 100 hours on, toddler still stuck in Punjab borewell

Sangrur (Punjab), Jun 10 (PTI) A two-year-old boy remained stuck in a 150-foot-deep borewell in Punjab's Sangrur district on Monday, amid mounting anger over the delay in retrieving him even after over 100 hours since he fell into it.

One of the rescuers said the depth of the parallel borewell, dug up to rescue the child, was more than the level at which he was stuck and it led to unwanted delay.

India: Minor abducted, gang-raped in UP

Muzaffarnagar, Jun 11 (PTI) A 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by two men in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Khandrauli village under Kandhla police station area on Monday. The minor was found lying unconscious in a field, they said.

A case has been registered against two men, identified as Suhail and Soman. They are absconding and efforts are underway to nab them, Station House Officer S K Vishnoi said.

2 Kashmiri killed by Indian security forces in Shopian district of Indian administered Kashmir

Srinagar, June 11: Two Kashmiri have been killed in an alleged encounter with Indian security forces in Shopian district of Indian administered Kashmir, Indian police said.

The Indian security forces' spokesman alleged that a cordon and search operation in Awneera area of Shopian was conducted following information about presence of Kashmiri separatist.
