Bhopal, May 8 (PTI) Seeking to counter the BJP's Hindutva plank, hundreds of sadhus chanted "Jai Shree Ram" as they took part in a roadshow held on Wednesday by Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh, who is contesting the Lok Sabha poll from Bhopal seat in Madhya Pradesh.

Singh along with religious leader Namdev Tyagi alias Computer Baba led the roadshow from Bhawani Chowk to Lal Parade ground, moving through main roads of the city, to seek votes.

Imphal, May 8 (PTI) Vigilance has been stepped up by the Assam Rifles along the India-Myanmar border in Manipur to check possible human trafficking and illegal drug trade, an official of the paramilitary force said here Wednesday.

The locals, mostly traders travelling to the border town of Moreh, have been asked to travel with proper identity proofs, the official said.

The existing bilateral agreement allowed local residents of both the countries to travel up to 16 km from the border without travel documents.

New Delhi, May 8 (PTI) Congress president Rahul Gandhi Wednesday tendered an unconditional apology in the Supreme Court for wrongfully attributing to the apex court the 'chowkidar chor hai' remark in the Rafale verdict

He also sought closure of the criminal contempt proceedings against him on a petition filed by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi

In a fresh three-page affidavit, Gandhi said he holds the apex court in the "highest esteem and respect" and that he has never sought to do anything which interferes with the process of administration of justice

LAHORE, May 08 (APP): Atleast three policemen were killed and 18 others suffered injuries in a blast near Data Darbar here on
Wednesday.

According to Rescue-1122, a blast occurred near a police van outside Data Darbar,gate no.2. As a result,three police men were killed and 18 other people received injuries.

The injured were shifted to Mayo hospital here.

Kanpur: One female patient admitted at the Hallet Hospital' s emergency Ward had to face unexpected trouble when she was not allowed to enter the Ward after returning from the doctor-prescribed test at the Cardiology. 

Admitted on bed no 3 of the Emergency Ward, Maya Devi was getting treatment under Dr A Kumar. 

COLOMBO, May 7 (Xinhua): Sri Lankan security forces have arrested all those directly linked to the Easter terror explosions on April 21, Acting Police Chief Chandana Wickramaratne said in a special statement here on Tuesday.

Wickramaratne said the police had identified all those involved in the terror attacks and many of them had committed suicide when security forces had attempted to arrest them.

He said the two bomb experts involved in the terrorist attacks had also been killed and forces had seized all the explosives and bombs which had been stored for future attacks.

Thane, May 6 (PTI) A 57-year-old man, earlier convicted in a rape case, has been awarded two years' rigorous imprisonment by a court in Thane district of Maharashtra for molesting a minor girl residing in his neighbourhood.

District Judge S A Sinha in her order on Saturday pronounced Arif Ahmed Memon, a labourer, guilty under Indian Penal Code section 354-A (physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures). The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 500 on him.

New Delhi, May 6 (PTI) A Delhi court has sentenced a man to three years in jail for subjecting his wife to cruelty to coerce her to meet his dowry demands, which forced her to commit suicide within one-and-a-half year of their marriage.

Additional Sessions Judge Deepak Garg convicted 30-year-old Pradeep under section 498 A (husband or his relative subjecting wife to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him.

Muzaffarnagar, May 7 (PTI) A court here has ordered to attach the property of all six accused in a Muzaffarnagar riots case as they failed to surrender before it despite repeated arrest warrants.

The accused had allegedly stabbed a youth, Shahnawaz, to death at Kawal village in Muzaffarnagar on August 27, 2013.

The accused have been identified as Ravinder, Prehlad, Bishan Singh, Tendu, Devender and Jitender.
