Israeli Missile Strike Targeted Sites Around Syrian Capital

DAMASCUS, Oct 22 (NNN-SANA) – Israel launched, last night, a missile attack against sites around Syria’s capital, Damascus, a statement from the Syrian military said.

The Syrian air defences were triggered by the attack and intercepted many of the missiles, said the statement, adding, the attack only caused property damage.

Meanwhile, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), said, the Israeli attack hit military sites in the vicinity of the Damascus International Airport, and in the south-western countryside of the capital.

Iran condemns call for U.N. probe into alleged use of its drones in Ukraine

Oct 22 (Reuters) - Iran on Saturday strongly condemned a call by France, Germany and Britain for the United Nations to probe accusations that Russia has used Iranian-origin drones to attack Ukraine, its foreign ministry said.

Tehran denies supplying drones to Moscow in the Ukraine war.

In a speech on Saturday, President Ebrahim Raisi struck a defiant tone on Iran's military sales in general, saying the country was now a popular prospective exporter of weapons.

AU welcomes initiation of Ethiopian government, rebels peace talks

ADDIS ABABA, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- The African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) has welcomed the initiation of the AU-lead peace talks between the Ethiopian government and the rebel Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF).

The AUPSC said in a press statement released Friday that it hopes peace talks scheduled for Monday in South Africa will have a fruitful outcome.

The Ethiopian government and TPLF have both confirmed their attendance for next week's peace talks.

Yemeni rebel drones target Greek ship in government-run port

SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Yemen’s Iran-backed rebels said they targeted a cargo ship Friday off an oil terminal in the war-wrecked Arab country’s south to prevent pro-government forces from using it for oil exports. A Greek company owning the Marshall Islands-flagged tanker said it sustained no damage in the attack by explosive-laden drones.

Turkiye: 'We do not accept US threats, bullying against Saudi Arabia'

22 October 2022; MEMO: Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has stated that his country cannot accept US threats to Saudi Arabia after the OPEC+ decision to reduce oil production.

In a statement reported by Turkiye's Anadolu Agency, Cavusoglu announced: "We are seeing that a country is threatening Saudi Arabia, and this bullying is not correct."
