Thousands of Syrians migrated from Turkiye to Europe

09 Sep 2022; MEMO: About 25,000 Syrians have migrated from Turkiye to European Union countries over the past few months due to rising anti-refugee rhetoric in Turkiye, Turkish media reported.

TGRT said as many as 10,000 Syrians travelled legally to countries in the European Union through a resettlement project, in addition to 15,000 Syrians who travelled through other means.

Nasser Kanaani was responding to a statement released by the Arab League foreign ministers following their meeting earlier this week in which they criticised the Islamic Republic for interfering in the internal affairs of Arab states.

Palestinian PM Urged Int’l Community To Pressure Israel To Allow Elections In East Jerusalem

RAMALLAH, Sept 8 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian Prime Minister, Mohammed Ishtaye, yesterday called on the international community, to pressure Israel to allow the holding of elections in the Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and allow Palestinian citizens there to participate in the elections by casting their votes and running as electoral candidates.

Ishtaye made the call during a meeting in the West Bank city of Ramallah, with the Norwegian special envoy to the Middle East, Hilde Haraldstad, according to an official statement.

Israel Must Withdraw From Occupied Lebanese Territories: Defence Minister

BEIRUT, Sept 8 (NNN-NNA) – The Lebanese defence minister warned yesterday, the Israeli army must withdraw from the occupied Shebaa Farms, Kfarchouba hills and north of Ghajar town.

“Lebanon was, and is still in a position to defend its rights and sovereignty,” Maurice Slim told Aroldo Lazaro Saenz, chief of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), during their meeting, urging a solution to border issues between the two countries along the Blue Line.

OPEC+ Oil Output Cut Aimed To Promote Market Stability: Saudi Minister

RIYADH, Sept 8 (NNN-SPA) – The Saudi Arabian energy minister said, the decision of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies, a group known as OPEC+, to reduce oil production, is aimed to promote market stability.

Turkey's Erdogan echoes Putin's gripes over grain exports

ISTANBUL, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday he wanted grain from Russia to be exported too, adding Vladimir Putin was right to complain that grain from Ukraine under a U.N.-backed deal was going to wealthy rather than poor countries.

The grain-export agreement aimed to avert a global food crisis by guaranteeing the safe passage of ships in and out of Ukrainian ports, allowing them to export tens of millions of tonnes of grain that had been blockaded by Russia's invasion.
