Israel DM in Morocco to formalise cooperation deals

24 Nov 2021; MEMO: Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz arrived in Morocco last night to begin a two-day visit during which he is expected to "formalise" cooperation deals between the two countries.

Before boarding his flight at Ben Gurion Airport, Gantz said: "This is an important and historic visit."

Gantz is planned to meet with Moroccan Defence Minister Abdellatif Loudiyi and Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.

India: Plea in Kerala HC regarding use of Halal jaggery in temple prasad

Kochi, Nov 22 (PTI) A plea was moved in the Kerala High Court on Monday to seek the opinion of the Thantri (chief priest) of the Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala with regard to propriety of using 'halal' jaggery to prepare prasadam like 'aravana' and 'appam' and the steps for remedying the situation.

Indian tea industry heading towards crisis: Planters' body

Kolkata, Nov 23 (PTI) The Tea Association of India (TAI) has expressed concern over decline in prices and drop in production, and cautioned that the industry could be heading towards a crisis.

Secretary General of TAI, P K Bhattacharya, said there has been a substantial drop in tea prices during November, both in Assam and West Bengal.

Input prices have also seen a steep rise, the planters' body said.

India, US relaunch Trade Policy Forum

New Delhi, Nov 23 (PTI) Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and US Trade Representative Katherine Tai on Tuesday relaunched the Trade Policy Forum (TPF) and agreed to engage on issues which are affecting the trade between the two countries.

The bilateral commerce between India and the US is expected to cross USD 100 billion this year.

Jordan to supply illegal Israel settlements with energy, under new deal

22 Nov 2021; MEMO: Israel, Jordan and the UAE are expected to sign a deal today in Dubai under which a solar plant in the Jordanian desert will generate power for Israel, in exchange for a desalination plant in Israel that will provide Jordan with water, news agencies said.

The Israeli news website Walla reported officials saying that the agreement is the biggest regional cooperation project ever reached between Israel and its neighbours.

Turkish firms want more shares in Iraq's rebuilding

20 Nov 2021; MEMO: Turkish contractors and consultancy firms can be a part of projects involving infrastructure, hospitals, schools and public buildings in Iraq, Nail Olpak, head of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) said in Iraq, Daily Sabah Newspaper reports.

According to the report, this cooperation can be further facilitated by a reversal in discrimination regarding the conditions of fair competition, as well as the easing of processes required to do business, a Turkish trade official said Friday.

UAE, Israel to cooperate on developing unmanned surface vessels

20 Nov 2021; MEMO: On the final day of the Dubai Air Show, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Israeli firms on Thursday signed a deal to cooperate on developing unmanned surface vessels (USVs).

According to The Jerusalem Post, the parties to the deal are Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and EDGE, an Emirati advanced tech company.
