India: BJP gov ruined India's economy in last 7 years: Sachin Pilot

Jaipur, Oct 20 (PTI) Attacking the Centre over inflation, fuel price hike, unemployment and other issues, former Rajasthan deputy chief minister and Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Wednesday said the government has "cheated" the country in every sector.

Addressing a Dalit sammelan at Chaksu near Jaipur, Pilot said that in the last seven years, "the BJP government ruined the economy, unemployment reached a historic peak, petrol, diesel and LPG cylinder have become expensive and inflation skyrocketed".

India: Six tunnel boring machines to be used for Kanpur metro

Kanpur: Notably, this is the first time in Uttar Pradesh when as many as 6 Tunnel Boring Machines will be used simultaneously to complete the construction within the slated deadline.

The Kanpur Metro will run on an underground corridor from Chunni Ganj to Nayaganj, Nayaganj to Transport Nagar and CSA to Double Pulia.

As such 6 tunnels will be built across the network and for this, around half a dozen TBMs are to be used here to complete the task in the stipulated time.

In the first phase, a tunnel will be dug between Chunni Ganj to Nayaganj, as has been reported.

IMF Chief Economist Gita Gopinath to leave job and return to Harvard University

Washington, Oct 20 (PTI) IMF's Chief Economist Gita Gopinath will leave her job in January next year and return to the prestigious Harvard University, according to the global financial institution.

The 49-year-old prominent Indian-American economist had joined the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as the Chief Economist in January 2019.

She was the John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics at Harvard University when she joined the Washington-based global lender.

China's billionaire Jack Ma on first trip abroad after crackdown on Alibaba

Beijing, Oct 20 (PTI) Jack Ma, China's billionaire and founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba, has travelled to Europe for an agriculture study tour, his first trip abroad since he ran into trouble with the Chinese government last year over violating anti-monopoly regulations.

Before flying to Europe, Ma was in Hong Kong to spend low-key private time with his family, the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post, which is owned by him, reported on Wednesday.

German pharmaceutical giant plans to invest Turkey

18 Oct 2021; MEMO: The head of the German Turkish Chamber of Industry and Commerce said that German pharmaceutical giant plans to make investments in Turkey and establish a joint venture with the prominent Turkish pharmaceutical player, Anadolu News Agency reports.

According to the report, Markus Slevogt announced that German pharmaceutical giant, Boehringer Ingelheim, plans to make investments in Turkey and establish a joint venture with prominent Turkish pharmaceutical player, Abdi İbrahim.

India FM hails Israel as 'most trusted partner'

India: Exports up 40.5 pc to USD 15.13 bn during Oct 1-14

New Delhi, Oct 18 (PTI) The country's exports rose by 40.5 per cent to USD 15.13 billion during October 1-14 on account of healthy performance by key sectors such as petroleum products, engineering and chemicals, according to preliminary data of the commerce ministry.

Imports during the period grew by 60.72 per cent to USD 14.82 billion, the data showed.
