Islamabad, May 26 (PTI) Seeking a "paradigm shift" in its ties with the US, Pakistan's National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf has presented to his American counterpart Jake Sullivan a blueprint to enhance bilateral relations not based on security and defence but focusing on economy and trade, according to a media report on Wednesday.

Washington, May 26 (AP-PTI) Senate Republicans revived negotiations over President Joe Biden's sweeping investment plan, preparing a USD 1 trillion infrastructure proposal that would be funded with COVID-19 relief money as a counteroffer to the White House ahead of a Memorial Day deadline toward a bipartisan deal.

The Republicans said Tuesday they would disclose details of the new offer by Thursday, sounding upbeat after both sides had panned other offers.

New Delhi, May 26 (PTI) Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said the manufacturers of Sputnik V have agreed to supply the Russian anti-Covid vaccine to Delhi but its quantity is yet to be decided.

He also said that there were around 620 cases of black fungus or mucormycosis in the city, but there is a shortage of Amphotericin-B injections used in its treatment.

New Delhi, May 26 (PTI) Farmers agitating at three Delhi border points raised black flags, shouted anti-government slogans, burnt effigies and took out protest marches as they observed 'black day' on Wednesday to mark the completion of six months of their stir against the three Central agri laws.

A brief ruckus was also reported from the Ghazipur protest site where farmers burnt an effigy of the central government amid heavy police deployment.

25 May 2021; MEMO: Libya announced that Egyptian, Turkish, Italian, German and Tunisian companies have the biggest chance of taking part in the reconstruction of the country.

In statements the Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Salama Al-Ghwail, said: "The Egyptian, Turkish, Italian, German and Tunisian companies will have the best chances to participate in the reconstruction projects in Libya."

25 May 2021; MEMO: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov yesterday warned Turkey against what he said were attempts to fuel Ukraine's "militaristic sentiment" after Ankara moved to boost cooperation with Kyiv, Reuters reports.

"We strongly recommend that our Turkish colleagues carefully analyse the situation and stop fuelling Kyiv's militaristic sentiment," Lavrov said in an interview with Argumenty i Fakty newspaper.

Chandigarh, May 24 (PTI) Punjab farmers in large numbers are marching towards Delhi borders, said state BKU leaders in the wake of a call given to observe May 26 as a "black day" to mark six months of the agitation against the Centre's farm laws.

Farmers are protesting at the Delhi's Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur borders since late November, demanding the repeal of the laws, which the Union government claimed is for their benefit.

No talks have been been held over the issue between the Centre and the agitating farmers since January 22.

24 May 2021; MEMO: An Israeli security source revealed yesterday that occupation forces have left the Karm Abu Salem and Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossings closed as part of a new policy on dealing with the Gaza Strip, news agencies reported.

The Israeli security source reported that the two crossings would remain closed until further notice, pointing out that occupation authorities have been blocking the entry of any food or other commercial goods to Gaza.

24 May 2021; MEMO: Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani arrived in Khartoum late yesterday for talks with Sudanese officials on ways of enhancing bilateral relations.

During his two-day visit, the top Qatari diplomat will meet with the head of Sudan's Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok, and other senior officials, according to the official news agency SUNA.

New York, May 24 (PTI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived here Sunday on his first visit to the US after India entered the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member in January this year and is expected to meet UN chief Antonio Guterres and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

Jaishankar is expected to meet the UN Secretary General on Tuesday morning and will visit Washington DC where he will meet Blinken.

It is the first visit by a senior Indian minister to the US after President Joe Biden assumed office in January.
