PARIS, Feb 21 (NNN-AGENCIES) — France and Germany signed a €150 million (US$161.84 million) deal on Thursday to develop a prototype of the next generation fighter jet, a project seen as vital for Europe to defend itself without relying on allies in an increasingly uncertain world.

Dassault Aviation and Airbus will build the aircraft, which is expected to be operational from 2040 with a view to replacing Dassault’s Rafale and Germany’s Eurofighter warplanes over time.

New Delhi, Feb 19 (PTI) Wipro Lighting expects its smart products to account for 15 per cent of its total domestic lighting product sales in the next two years, said a company official.

KUALA LUMPUR, 20 Feb (NNN-BERNAMA) —  An estimated savings of RM2.865 billion could be possible for the Pan Borneo Highway (PBH) Sarawak project based on the overall difference in the development cost between that of the Project Delivery Partner (PDP)’s model and a conventional method.

However, the final amount of savings can only be realised after a full evaluation is carried out in the future, Works Minister Baru Bian said.

The estimated savings took into account the development cost of RM21.857 billion including construction costs based on the PDP model.

MUSCAT, Feb 20 (NNN-ONA) – Oman’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), signed with China’s Huawei, a memorandum of understanding (MoU), to provide training programmes for 1,000 Omani young people, on 5G technology.

“The Chinese company will offer a two-year training course for that number of Omanis, to be picked by the TRA,” TRA said in a press release.

The MoU was signed by TRA Chief Executive Officer, Salem Al Rawahi and Huawei Oman Regional Director, Chen Bing.

MEXICO CITY, Feb 20 (NNN-Xinhua) — Foreign investors are looking to increase their investment in Mexico thanks to the ratification of the renovated free trade agreement, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said.

“In general (foreign investors are) very optimistic about the country’s economic future, and committed to keeping their investment and increasing their investment in Mexico, within the framework of the free trade deal,” Lopez Obrador told reporters at his daily press conference.
