India: Maruti to drive in new S-Presso later this month

New Delhi, Sep 21 (PTI) Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Saturday said it will launch mini SUV S-Presso later this month, coinciding with the start of the festive season.

The company said the indigenously conceived, designed and developed vehicle is made for India as well as the world.

"Our internal research suggests that the criteria of buying a car for the youth, apart from affordability, acquisition cost and maintenance, now also include design and aesthetics," MSI Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) Shashank Srivastava said in a statement.

India: Onion prices surge to Rs 70-80/kg

New Delhi, Sep 22 (PTI) The Centre is mulling imposing stock limits on onion traders as the retail prices of the key kitchen staple have shot up to Rs 70-80 per kg in the national capital and other parts of the country owing to supply disruption in the wake of excess monsoon rains in the major growing states, according to sources.

India: Petrol price jumps Rs 1.59/ltr, diesel Rs 1.31/ltr

New Delhi, Sep 22 (PTI) Petrol prices have soared by Rs 1.59 a litre and diesel by Rs 1.31 in the last six days -- the most since daily price revision was introduced in 2017, as a massive strike at Saudi Arabian oil facilities jolted oil markets.

Petrol price was on Sunday hiked by 27 paise to Rs 73.62 a litre in the Delhi market -- the benchmark for national rates, according to a price notification by state-owned oil firms.

Price of diesel was increased by 18 paise to Rs 66.74 per litre in Delhi.

Brazilian President Signs Law To Reduce Bureaucracy

RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept 22 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) -Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro, signed into law, the Provisional Measure of Economic liberalisation bill, which seeks to reduce bureaucracy in business activities.

It was Bolsonaro’s first governmental act, since the beginning of the month, when he had to undergo an hernia surgery.

According to the government, the new law will reduce bureaucracy and make it easier for Brazilians to start a business and close deals.

No need to have trade deal with China before 2020 elections: Trump

Washington, Sep 21 (PTI) US President Donald Trump has said he does not feel the need to strike a trade agreement with China before the next year's presidential elections, emphasizing that he is looking for a complete and not a "partial deal" with Beijing.

The world's two largest economies have been locked in a bruising trade war since Trump in March last year imposed tariff hikes of up to 25 per cent on USD 250 billion of Chinese goods.

In response, China, the world's second largest economy after the US, imposed tit-for-tat tariffs on USD 110 billion of American goods.

Thousands of Paris police deployed over ‘yellow vest’ clash fears

PARIS, Sept 21 (NNN-AGENCIES) — More than 7,000 police officers are to be deployed for rallies in Paris on Saturday over fears that yellow vest protesters and their radical, anarchist “black blocs” could try to infiltrate a march against climate change in the French capital.

The yellow vest movement erupted 10 months ago and blindsided President Emmanuel Macron, who protesters accused of being out of touch with the needs of ordinary French people.

Chinese agriculture officials cancel US farm visits

WASHINGTON, Sept 21 (NNN-AGENCIES) — A Chinese agricultural delegation cancelled a planned visits to farms in Montana and Nebraska that had been scheduled for the coming days, officials said.

Word of the cancelled visits, which were set to occur ahead of high-level trade negotiations expected next month, sent stocks tumbling.

A spokesman for the US Trade Representative’s Office said the mid-level trade talks with Chinese officials underway in Washington were continuing as planned into Friday afternoon.

China-Aided Hydro-power Station Project In Burundi To Expand Cooperation

RUMONGE, Burundi, Sept 21 (NNN-XINHUA) – The China-aided Ruzibazi hydro-power station project, located in Burundi’s Rumonge province, will expand bilateral cooperation, Burundian President, Pierre Nkurunziza, said Friday.

Nkurunziza made the remark when attending a construction commencement ceremony for the project held onsite.

The project, the largest China-aided project in Burundi so far, involves the building of a hydro-power station with an installed capacity of 15 megawatt.

Lebanon, Saudi Arabia To Sign 19 Economic Agreements

BEIRUT, Sept 21 (NNN-NNA) – Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, said that, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia are preparing to sign 19 economic agreements.

“We are working on holding a meeting for the Saudi- Lebanese High Joint Committee, to discuss how the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia can support Lebanon financially,” Hariri said, on the sidelines of the meeting with French President, Emmanuel Macron, at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
