Germany: Demonstrators protest against no-deal Brexit in central Berlin

BERLIN, Sept 8 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Dozens of demonstrators belonging to a group called “Stop the Coup” gathered in central Berlin on Saturday to protest against a no-deal Brexit.

The protesters, who collected signatures for a petition, said they wanted to defend British democracy following Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s order to suspend parliament for five weeks before Britain is due to leave the EU on Oct 31.

Brazilian minister prepared to sell all “dysfunctional” state owned companies

FORTALEZA (Brasil), Sept 8 (NNN-MERCOPRESS) — Brazil’s Economy Minister Paulo Guedes said he will propose selling all the country’s state-owned companies because they are “dysfunctional” and should be privatized to improve the government’s finances.

In a wide-ranging address at a conference in the northeastern city of Fortaleza broadcast live on the internet, Guedes also said millions of jobs could be created as a result of the government’s plans to simplify Brazil’s complex tax system.

China’s Wang Yi Meets Pakistani Foreign Minister, Vowing To Maintain Regional Stability

British minister Amber Rudd resigns in fresh setback for Johnson

LONDON, Sept 8 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Amber Rudd, the British secretary of state for work and pensions and minister for women and equalities, resigned from the cabinet on Saturday. Her departure marks another setback for Conservative Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Rudd tweeted late Saturday that she resigned and surrendered the Conservative Whip. “I cannot stand by as good, loyal moderate Conservatives are expelled”, she wrote, adding that she remained committed to “the One Nation values that drew me into politics.”

Boeing suspends testing of long-haul 777X aircraft

New York, Sep 7 (AFP) Boeing has suspended testing on its new long-haul 777X aircraft, the company said Friday, a setback that comes as it battles to rebound from the crisis surrounding the 737 MAX.

The so-called "final load" tests are part of the aircraft certification process, overseen by inspectors from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and meant to subject the plane to "loads and stresses well beyond normal operational loads," a Boeing spokesman told AFP in an email.

India: FinMin sets up task force to identify infra projects for Rs 100 lakh cr investment

New Delhi, Sep 7 (PTI) The government on Saturday said it has constituted a high-level task force to identify infrastructure projects for Rs 100 lakh crore investment by 2024-25 as India aims to become a USD 5 trillion economy.

The task force, headed by the economic affairs secretary, will draw up a 'National Infrastructure Pipeline' of Rs 100 lakh crore, the finance ministry said in a statement.

This would include greenfield and brownfield projects costing above Rs 100 crore each.

India: States to be key drivers of growth for making India USD 5 trillion economy: Niti CEO

New Delhi, Sep 7 (PTI) States will have to become key agents of growth to help achieve India's target of becoming a USD 5 trillion economy, Niti Aayog Chief Executive Officer Amitabh Kant said on Saturday.

Speaking at an event organised here by industry chamber PHDCCI, Kant said states have to work together and learn from each other to radically transform India.
