27 June 2019; MEMO: Switzerland has banned planemaker Pilatus from operating in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), saying on Wednesday the company had breached Swiss rules on giving logistical support to foreign armed forces now engaged in a war in Yemen, reports Reuters.

27 June 2019; MEMO: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister, Abdullah Bin Zayed, yesterday said that his country could not hold any country responsible for the recent attacks on four oil tankers because of “insufficient information”.

Bin Zayed said during a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, in Russian capital Moscow that, in order to hold any country responsible, the evidence must be “clear, precise, scientific and convincing for the international community”.

27 June 2019; AFP: US regulators said Wednesday Boeing must address a new "potential risk" in the Boeing 737 MAX, further clouding the timeframe for resuming service on the planes after two deadly crashes.

The issue, which surfaced during FAA simulator testing, concerns the ability of pilots to quickly reassert control of the plane if an automated flight handling system pushes the plane downward, said a person familiar with the matter.

27 June 2019; DW: "Counterproductive" US sanctions against Russia have cost German companies billions of euros in lost business opportunities, the German-Russian Chamber of Commerce (AHK) said Wednesday.

More than 140 firms that participated in a recent survey reported more than €1.1 billion ($1.25 billion) in losses since the sanctions came into effect five years ago, the group said.

27 June 2019; DW: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Wednesday that the United States should drop sanctions against Iran and return to a 2015 nuclear deal to de-escalate soaring tensions between the two countries.

"The return to the nuclear deal would be the shortest way to secure the interests of all sides ... and also good for the world, the region and especially the international [nuclear] non-proliferation treaty," he said.

New Delhi, Jun 27 (PTI) Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel Thursday demanded a ban on lottery in the country, saying it is a social evil and hurts the poor the most.

Raising the matter during the Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, Goel said single digit lottery has been banned and now even multi-digit number lotteries too should be banned.

He said lottery is a social evil and poor people suffer.

Goel said all parties should support his demand. Several members across the House associated themselves with the suggestion.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he’s under little pressure to reach a trade deal with China when he meets late this week with President Xi Jinping and is prepared to impose further tariffs on Chinese imports.

DALLAS (AP) — A Texas jury ruled Wednesday that Chinese technology giant Huawei stole trade secrets from a Silicon Valley startup, but jurors declined to levy damages, saying Huawei didn’t benefit from the theft.

The jury in U.S. District Court in Sherman, Texas, also rejected Huawei’s claims that Cnex Labs Inc. co-founder Yiren Huang stole its technology while he worked at a Huawei subsidiary.

Renton (AP) — A new software problem has been found in the troubled Boeing 737 Max that could push the plane’s nose down automatically, and fixing the flaw is almost certain to further delay the plane’s return to flying after two deadly crashes.

Boeing said Wednesday that the FAA “identified an additional requirement” for software changes that the aircraft manufacturer has been working on for eight months, since shortly after the first crash.

SHENZHEN, China (AP) — Chinese tech giant Huawei has warned a U.S. proposal to block the company from pursuing damages in the country’s patent courts would be a “catastrophe for global innovation.”

Huawei’s chief legal officer warned Thursday the proposal by an American senator would threaten the global intellectual property system that supports technology development.
