BERLIN (AP) — Budget airline Eurowings says 14 flights were canceled at Duesseldorf airport in western Germany after flight attendants started a temporary strike over working conditions.

German news agency dpa reported that flights were canceled Tuesday for eight hours until 12:30 p.m. local time (1130 GMT). Flight attendants are demanding, among other things, more reliable work schedules.

The ver.di union says the strike is a reaction to Eurowings’ refusal to further negotiate working conditions.

New Delhi, Nov 19 (PTI) Indonesia is interested in buying sugar from India but wants latter to cut import duty on refined palm oil and the sweetener substantially to 45 per cent and 5 per cent, respectively, according to sources.

An Indian delegation is scheduled to visit Indonesia this week to negotiate trade between the two nations for these two commodities.

While India is the world's largest sugar producer with huge quantity of exportable surplus, Indonesia is a major producer of edible oils, particularly palm.

Bengaluru, Nov 18 (PTI) Amid demands from some quarters for RBI governor Urjit Patel's resignation, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance Veerappa Moily Sunday said if he quits over the stand-off between the top bank and the Centre, it will send a bad signal to global markets.

"If Patel decides to resign over its (RBI) differences with the central government, it will be a very sad and bad for the Indian economy.

HANOI, November 19. /TASS/. The trade war is already underway bringing certain fruit to its initiators but there will be no winners at the end of the day, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told reporters on Monday.

"It [the trade war] has already been waged. It is underway. All of us evidence that this war in general terms is already bringing certain fruit to specific countries attempting to press on their course. On the other hand, it brings costs to the whole global trade. Certainly, there will be no winners eventually, like in any war of such kind," Medvedev said.

KATHMANDU, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Nepali Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada on Monday expressed his belief that the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative would help transform the economy of those partnering countries including Nepal.

The minister made the remarks here during a two-day international conference on the Belt and Road Initiative in South Asia and Nepal.

Khatiwada said the initiative created win-win situation for those countries.

19 Nov 2018; AFP: Japan's politically sensitive trade surplus with the United States shrank further in October, the fourth consecutive monthly decline, official data showed Monday.

The figure also showed an overall global trade deficit, as increases in imports of crude oil and liquefied natural gas overwhelmed a rise in exports of cars and engines.

The surplus with the US came in at 573.4 billion yen ($5 billion) in October, a year-on-year decline of 11.0 percent.

19 Nov 2018; AFP: China will expand its ban on imports of solid waste, local media reported Monday, almost a year after its first curbs caused havoc in countries that sent their rubbish to the Asian giant.

The regulatory action -- which expands the prohibition to 32 categories of solid waste from the 24 banned last year -- will go into effect from December 31, according to official news agency Xinhua, citing four Chinese government agencies.

MOSCOW, November 18. /TASS/. Russia may launch settlements with Iran in national currencies in order to continue bilateral cooperation despite the US sanctions against Tehran, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said in an interview with the Anadolu news agency on Sunday.

"We do not recognize [the US sanctions against Iran], which were introduced unilaterally without the approval of the United Nations Security Council. We will continue seeking mechanisms for cooperation, and one of them is the settlements for supplied goods in national currencies," Novak said.
