Russia, North Korea, China to hold trilateral consultations in Moscow on October 9

MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. Deputy foreign ministers of Russia and North Korea will hold bilateral consultations in Moscow on October 8, a representative of Russia’s diplomatic mission in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea told TASS on Saturday, adding that on the next day, October 9, diplomats from Russia, North Korea and China will have a trilateral meeting.

WB approves 515 mln USD for Bangladesh fisheries, forest, road projects

DHAKA, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank has approved 515 million U.S. dollars for three projects in Bangladesh to improve coastal and marine fisheries, forest management, and rural roads.

These financings will help rural people by reducing poverty and creating new livelihood opportunities, including for local communities in the country's southeastern Cox's Bazar district hosting Rohingya people who fled violence in Myanmar, said the Washington-based lender in a statement received here Saturday.

Washington, Oct 6; PTI: The US presidential waiver on weapons deal with sanctions-hit Russia is intended to "wean" countries like India off the Russian equipment, the White House has said as New Delhi inked a USD 5 billion deal to purchase S-400 Triumf air defence system from Moscow.

The mega deal was sealed in New Delhi on Friday during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the annual summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

New Delhi, Oct 5; PTI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin Friday held the India-Russia annual summit after which eight pacts, including on cooperation on India's ambitious human space mission project Gaganyaan, were signed.

Official sources said the two countries also signed the USD 5 billion S-400 air defence system deal after talks between the two leaders in Hyderabad House.

Toyota recalls 2.4 million hybrids due to stalling problems

TOKYO (AP) — Toyota Motor Corp. says it has issued a recall for 2.43 million hybrid vehicles in Japan and elsewhere for potential problems with stalling.

The company said Friday that in rare cases the vehicles might fail to enter a “failsafe” driving mode, lose power and stall. Power steering and braking would still work but a stall at a fast speed could increase risks of a crash.

NEW DELHI, October 5. /TASS/. The new round of the West’s accusations against Russia has not affected the course of the Russian-Indian talks Russian President Vladimir Putin is conducting in New Delhi, the Rossiya 24 TV channel quotes Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov as saying.

"Here [at the talks in the Indian capital] the agenda is more linked to real events and mutually beneficial cooperation," Peskov said. "It is free from hysterical manifestations."

Russia, India seal deal on supply of S-400 air defense systems

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Moscow and New Delhi have signed a contract on the supply of S-400 air defense systems to India.

"Yes, on the sidelines of the visit [of Vladimir Putin to India]," Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said when asked if the S-400 contract had been concluded.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov earlier told the media that as a result of the deal "India will have a modern air defense system boasting parameters that surpass those of similar systems of other countries."

Iran vows to overcome U.S. sanctions after termination of amity treaty

TEHRAN, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed on Thursday that Iran will overcome U.S. economic sanctions against the country.

The U.S. revival of sanctions is aimed to make the Iranians surrender to the U.S. will, but "Iran's national economy is stronger than U.S. sanctions," Khamenei said in his address to Basij (volunteer) forces and senior Iranian military officials at the Azadi Stadium in the capital Tehran.

This will be another "slap on the face of the United States," he warned.
