Chile Senate approves resolution to adopt law boycotting Israeli settlement goods

10 July 2020; MEMO: The Chilean Senate last week approved a resolution calling on President Sebastian Pinera Echenique to adopt a law boycotting settlement goods and banning commercial activity with companies that operate in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The motion passed on 30 June with 29 votes in favour and six abstentions, no votes were cast against the move.

German official: Tourism with Turkey will resume ‘soon’

07 July 2020; MEMO: The German government’s Commissioner for Tourism, Thomas Bareiss, said Monday that tourism with Turkey will resume soon.

Bareiss told German broadcaster NTV that “every country should be treated fairly and I am pretty confident that tourism activity between Turkey and Germany will resume soon”.

Greece reopens islands to flights in bid to save tourism season

CORFU (Greece), July 2 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Greece reopened flights to its flagship island destinations as it raced to salvage a portion of the annual tourism season that is vital to its economy.

Over 100 flights are expected at 14 regional airports that include the popular islands of Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodes and Crete, airport manager Fraport said.

All airports in the country are now receiving international flights and the ports of Patras and Igoumenista will again receive ferries from Italy.

Cuba partially reopens borders to international tourists

HAVANA, July 2 (NNN-Xinhua) — Cuba partially reopened its borders to international tourists in keeping with measures adopted by the government as part of the country’s post-pandemic recovery plan.

On March 31, the Caribbean nation announced the suspension of international flights and asked international boats to withdraw from its territorial waters as a precautionary measure to slow the spread of the coronavirus nationwide.

New High-Speed Railway Connects East, Central China

HEFEI, June 29 (NNN-XINHUA) – A new high-speed railway route connecting east and central China started operation on Sunday.

With a designed speed of 350 kph, the route connects the city of Shangqiu in central China’s Henan Province, and Hefei and Hangzhou, the capital cities of east China’s Anhui and Zhejiang provinces.

The northern section of the railway, from Shangqiu to Hefei, went into operation in Dec, 2019, according to the China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd.

Singapore To Permit Resumption Of Tourism Businesses

SINGAPORE, June 29 (NNN-CNA) – The Singapore Tourism Board (STB), said on Sunday that, tourism businesses in Singapore will be permitted to resume operations, at stages, from July 1, beginning with 13 attractions.

The authority said, this is part of the resumption of activities in Phase 2, after the Circuit Breaker, which was imposed by the government from Apr 7 to June 1, to reduce COVID-19 transmission.

UK ditches corona quarantine for arrivals from low-risk countries

LONDON, June 27 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Britain will ditch a 14-day quarantine period for people arriving from countries it deems to be lower risk for COVID-19 , the government said.

Official travel advice against all but essential travel outside Britain will also be eased for some countries and regions.

Taken together, these changes will make it easier for Britons to travel abroad for summer holidays.

Malaysia Airlines extends economy fare options
