DUBAI, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- More than 70 delegates to the UN climate change conference convened on Tuesday in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, to seek insights and solutions for an inclusive, just and resilient global energy transition.

The energy-themed gathering came as the climate talks at COP28, or the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), reached a stalemate over issues including energy transition.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Don’t trust the oil and gas industry to report their actual carbon pollution, said former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, who added that the man leading the United Nations climate talks runs one of the “dirtiest” oil companies out there.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — An American warship and multiple commercial ships came under attack Sunday in the Red Sea, the Pentagon said. Yemen’s Houthi rebels later claimed attacks on two ships they described as being linked to Israel, but did not acknowledge targeting a U.S. Navy vessel.

The attack potentially marked a major escalation in a series of maritime attacks in the Mideast linked to the Israel-Hamas war.

UAE: PM Kakar for executing $100 bn commitments for climate change finance

DUBAI, Dec 2 (APP): Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Saturday called for immediately executing the US$100 billion commitments for climate finance to ensure implementation of climate change actions by the developing countries and to mitigate the climate change impacts.

“Such finance should not be at the cost of development finance nor add to the already high debt burden of the developing countries,” the prime minister said while delivering National Statement at the 28th Conference of Parties of the United Nations (COP 28) here.

UAE: Israel tells Arab states it wants buffer zone in post-war Gaza

DUBAI/CAIRO/LONDON, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Israel has informed several Arab states that it wants to carve out a buffer zone on the Palestinian side of Gaza's border to prevent future attacks as part of proposals for the enclave after war ends, Egyptian and regional sources said.

According to three regional sources, Israel related its plans to its neighbours Egypt and Jordan, along with the United Arab Emirates, which normalised ties with Israel in 2020.
