Lebanese demonstrators clash with Israeli forces on border

10 June 2023; MEMO: The towns of Kafr Shuba and Al-Arqoub, on the southern border of Lebanon, witnessed clashes on Friday between demonstrators and the Israeli army.

The Israeli forces threw smoke bombs at Lebanese protesters who condemned the occupation's bulldozing of their land in front of the Kafr Shuba border crossing in southern Lebanon, according to an Anadolu reporter.

OIC calls for independent investigation into killing of toddler by an Israeli soldier

07 June 2023; MEMO: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has called for an independent international investigation into the killing of Palestinian toddler Muhammad Al-Tamimi. The 30-month-old child was shot in the head last Thursday by an Israeli soldier in the village of Nabi Saleh, west of Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank and died of his wounds on Monday.

Israeli occupation forces detains PA police officer

The Israeli occupation forces have detained a Palestinian Authority police officer over an alleged plan to assassinate an illegal settler leader in the occupied West Bank, local media have reported.

The police officer was named as Alaa Khaled Qatto. He was detained during an overnight incursion by the Israeli occupation forces in the Palestine refugee camp in Tulkarm in the occupied West Bank.

US churches campaign to end Israel's apartheid system

08 June 2023; MEMO: Some 100 North American congregations, faith groups and organisations have launched the Apartheid Free Communities campaign aimed at ending the crime of apartheid committed by Israel against Palestinians.

The campaign's founding statement said it draws inspiration from the anti-apartheid movement that overthrew the apartheid regime in South Africa.

Australian women in Syria detention camps take gov't to court

06 June 2023; MEMO: A group of Australian women and children trapped in detention camps in northeast Syria are taking the Australian government to court to try and secure repatriation.

The women argue that their detention is arbitrary, that Canberra has the power to free them and that they have a legal right to return to Australia.

Roughly 38,000 foreign nationals are held in two camps in northeast Syria – Roj and Al-Hawl.
