German police forcefully removed child from his family

30 Apr 2023; MEMO: German authorities have been facing heavy criticism since a viral video showed a Muslim immigrant child forcefully being removed from his family in the city of Bremerhaven.

The video, widely shared on social media, showed police and child protection agency officers entering a house, and forcefully taking a little boy from his family, while the frightened child was crying for help and trying to resist the officers.

Russia to respond harshly to embassy school seizure in Poland — diplomat

Ukraine says it controls key supply route into Bakhmut

April 30 (Reuters) - Ukraine remains in control of a key supply route into Bakhmut, a military spokesperson said on Saturday, as the head of Russia's mercenary Wagner Group threatened to withdraw some of his troops from the eastern city if Moscow did not send more ammunition.

Russian forces have been trying for 10 months to punch their way into the shattered remains of what was once a city of 70,000. Kyiv has pledged to defend Bakhmut, which Russia sees as a stepping stone to attacking other cities.

Ukraine: Relatives bury children killed in Russian missile attack

UMAN, Ukraine (AP) — Relatives and friends cried next to coffins on Sunday as they buried children and others killed in a Russian missile attack on this central Ukrainian city, while fighting claimed more lives elsewhere.

Almost all of the 23 victims of the attack on Friday died when two missiles slammed into an apartment building in Uman. Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said six children were among the dead.

Indian-origin crime gang boss jailed for drug smuggling, money laundering

London, Apr 29 (PTI) An Indian-origin crime gang boss is serving an eight-year-10-month prison sentence after admitting to drug smuggling and money laundering charges in a British court.

The UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) said its officers proved that Raj Singh, 45, from Surrey in south-east England ran an organised crime group and regularly worked together with Waqas Iqbal, 41, to buy and sell Class A drugs and firearms.

UK, Poland ink landmark $2.3B missile export deal

29 Apr 2023; AA: The UK and Poland on Friday agreed to a significant £1.9 billion ($2.3 billion) missile export deal that will see a British air defense system implemented in Poland.

The deal will be completed by MBDA, a UK firm, and will provide advanced ground-based air-defense capabilities to protect Poland for many years to come.

The UK will provide 22 Polish air defense batteries with UK Common Anti-Air Modular Missiles (CAMMs) and launchers.
