Emirates Airline records first losses in over 30 years

13 Nov 2020; MEMO: Emirates Airline revealed yesterday that it had recorded losses for the first time in more than three decades due to the repercussions of the coronavirus which brought air travel to a "literal standstill".

The Dubai based airline said it had suffered a loss of $3.4 billion during the period from March until September.

Tunisia saves 19 illegal migrants from drowning

13 Nov 2020; MEMO: A marine unit of Tunisia's coast guards has rescued 19 Tunisian illegal immigrants from drowning 60 kilometers off the fishing port of the country's province of Sfax, the spokesman of the maritime guard, Ali Ayari, announced yesterday.

Ayari said that the migrants were from Sfax, adding that they ranged in age from two to 46 years old.

Arab Israelis banned from visiting the occupied West Bank

13 Nov 2020; MEMO: Israelis are banned from entering the occupied West Bank, in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.

Israel's Defence Ministry issued the order which limits Arab Israeli citizens from entering Area B of the occupied West Bank, an area which according to the Oslo Accords is under Palestinian civil control and Israeli military control.

Turkey's strategic victory in Nagorno-Karabakh

13 Nov 2020; MEMO: Russian President Vladimir Putin declared on Tuesday that Azerbaijan and Armenia had signed a peace agreement, ending six weeks of fierce fighting between the two countries over Nagorno-Karabakh. The mountainous region is internationally-recognised as part of Azerbaijan but has been occupied and run by ethnic Armenians since 1994.

Ethiopia names new Tigray head as conflict boils

ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) - Ethiopia sought to tighten its grip on the rebellious Tigray region on Friday by appointing a new local leader during a military offensive that has killed hundreds and shaken the wider Horn of Africa region.

Federal troops’ 10-day push against the northern state has sent refugees flooding into Sudan and raised fears it may suck in Eritrea or weaken an African force opposing Islamist militants in Somalia if Ethiopia diverts troops from there.

Israel’s settlements could test ties with Biden

Several injured in ‘bomb attack’ on Armistice Day ceremony at Saudi cemetery

JEDDAH (Saudi Arabia), Nov 12 (NNN-AGENCIES) — At least three people were wounded Wednesday in what French officials described as a “bomb attack” targeting a World War I commemoration ceremony attended by European diplomats at a non-Muslim cemetery in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

France’s Foreign Ministry said the attack had taken place at a ceremony marking the end of World War I and that several people had been wounded as a result of an explosive device.

Missing Israeli soldier found dead near Jerusalem, military says

TEL AVIV (Reuters) - An Israeli soldier reported missing this week was found dead near Jerusalem on Thursday, the Israeli military said.

The military said it was investigating the circumstances of the soldier’s death in cooperation with the Israeli police.

The soldier’s body was found near a military checkpoint between the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, the military said in a statement.
