ANKARA, October 28. /TASS/: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has filed a lawsuit against French Charlie Hebdo satirical weekly magazine, TPT TV channel reported Wednesday.
In its recent edition, the magazine portrayed the Turkish leader as a half-naked caricature saying, ‘here is the prophet’ as he lifts the skirt of a maid wearing a head scarf and a dress standing next to him. The cartoon is supplied with a caption, reading, "Erdogan is a very funny man in his private life."
ANKARA, Oct 28 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, held a phone talk with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on Tuesday, one day after Russia’s airstrike killed nearly 80 Turkey-backed rebels in Syria.
Syria and Libya were the issues discussed by the two foreign ministers during the conversation.
The Russian attack in the north-western Syrian province of Idlib was on the agenda, the sources said.
BAGHDAD, Oct 28 (NNN-NINA) – The extremist Daesh militants, killed five family members and wounded two others, on Tuesday, in Iraq’s eastern province of Diyala, a local official said.
The incident took place at a village, near the town of al-Maqdadiyah, some 100 km north-east of Baghdad, when the militants shot dead a shepherd and planted a bomb under his body and another one on the road leading to the body, Hatem al-Tamimi, mayor of the town, said.
ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday Turkey had the legitimate right to act again if militants are not cleared from its border with Syria, where it has carried out several incursions in the last four years.
“If the terrorists here are not cleared as we were promised, we have the legitimate right to mobilise once again,” Erdogan said in a speech to his AK Party’s lawmakers in parliament.
TARHOUNA, Libya (Reuters) - Libyan authorities have dug 12 bodies from four more unmarked graves in the city of Tarhouna, adding to the scores of corpses already discovered since the area was recaptured in June by the Government of National Accord (GNA).
Tarhouna had for years been controlled by a militia known as the Kaniyat, run by the local Kani family, which fought alongside Khalifa Haftar’s eastern-based Libyan National Army (LNA).
The GNA has issued arrest warrants for Kaniyat leaders who are now believed to be in eastern Libya.
28 Oct 2020; MEMO: The Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Al-Khalili, on Monday declared his full support for the boycott of French products following French President Emmanuel Macron’s offensive comments about Islam and its Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Sheikh Al-Khalili called on the Muslim nation to withdraw its investments from economic institutions run by “arrogant aggressors” and to work towards building fully independent global economies.
28 Oct 2020; MEMO: The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has said that the Palestinian olive harvest season, which started on 7 October, has been disrupted by illegal Jewish settlers.
In a report about the Israeli violations in the occupied territories, the report said that the olive harvest season was disrupted by people “believed or known to be Israeli settlers in 19 incidents”.
28 Oct 2020; MEMO: About 30 fighters were killed in violent clashes between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Daesh, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported yesterday.
The two sides have been fighting continuously since the beginning of the month in separate axes in the Syrian desert.
28 Oct 2020; MEMO: The UAE is to discuss a proposal to provide additional housing grants and loans to Emirati men who take on second and third wives, Arabic Post reported yesterday.
Reporting Al-Bayan newspaper, Arabic Post said a parliamentary committee reiterated the recommendations included giving priority for housing grants for men who marry more than one wife.
