Tunisian president meets Greek FM on ties, regional issues

TUNIS, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Kais Saied received on Monday Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, said the Tunisian presidency in a statement.

During the meeting, Saied discussed with the Greek foreign minister ways and means of further strengthening bilateral relations, in addition to regional and international issues of common interest, in particular "the chaotic situation in Libya."

Saudi, U.S. officials call for extension of UN arms embargo on Iran

RIYADH, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabian and U.S. officials on Monday called on the international community to extend a United Nations arms embargo on Iran, warning that the expiry would allow Tehran to destabilize the region.

Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir and U.S. Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook held a joint press conference in Riyadh, where weapons, including drones and missiles, which were used in recent Houthi attacks on Saudi cities, were displayed.

Israel Reports 686 New COVID-19 Cases, 24,441 In Total

JERUSALEM, June 30 (NNN-MA’AN) – The Israeli Ministry of Health reported 686 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, the highest daily number since Apr 2, taking the tally to 24,441.

The number of death cases increased from 318 to 319, while the number of patients in serious condition increased from 39 to 43 out of 224 patients currently hospitalised.

The number of recoveries rose to 17,218, with 144 new recoveries, while the number of active cases rose to 6,904, the highest since Apr 30.

Israel undeterred by international opposition to annexation

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears determined to carry out his pledge to begin annexing parts of the occupied West Bank, possibly as soon as Wednesday.

His vision of redrawing the map of the Holy Land, in line with President Donald Trump’s Mideast plan, has been welcomed by Israel’s religious and nationalist right wing and condemned by the Palestinians and the international community.

13 doctors die from coronavirus in Iraq

29 June 2020; MEMO: Iraqi authorities said Sunday 13 doctors have succumbed to coronavirus in the country since February, Anadolu reports.

A further 775 doctors have contracted the virus, Abdulalameer al-Shimmary, head of Iraq’s Doctors’ Association, told Anadolu Agency.

“All doctors are doing their utmost efforts to provide services to patients at the available resources,” he said.

Arab Parliament ratifies ‘unified strategy’ against Turkey, Iran

The statement made by the parliament came in the wake of a virtual meeting led by the parliament’s chairman, Mishaal Bin Fahm Al-Salami.

PA President Abbas refuses to accept phone call from Pompeo

29 June 2020; MEMO: Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has allegedly refused to accept a telephone call from US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to discuss Israel’s annexation plan, Israeli General Radio reported on Sunday.

According to Al Quds Al Araby, the intended call came amidst ongoing US-Israeli discussions about the annexation of the occupied Palestinian land.
