'Virus on wane, tourists want to come back to Turkey': Turkish FM

24 May 2020; MEMO: Germans and Russians want to come back to visit Turkey, in part thanks to its skillful handling of the coronavirus pandemic, now on the wane, Turkey’s foreign minister said Saturday, Anadolu Agency reports.

Appearing on television in Antalya, Turkey’s popular Mediterranean resort, Mevlut Cavusoglu said the country is working towards restarting tourism.

Iran: 107-year-old woman recovers from coronavirus

24 May 2020; MEMO: A 107-year-old Iranian woman who was infected with the new coronavirus has recovered, Reuters reported Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency saying on Sunday.

The woman, Saltanat Akbari, was admitted to the Khansari hospital in the central city of Arak. She was released from the hospital after spending “some time” in isolation.

“She defeated the virus with the help of doctors and nurses at the hospital,” Fars said.

Questions persist after UAE $20 million donation to Las Vegas

24 May 2020; MEMO: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has donated 200,000 coronavirus testing kits worth an estimated $20 million for a testing site in the American state of Nevada. Governor Steve Sisolak had ordered a mandatory lockdown of all nonessential businesses in March after the spread of the virus and warnings from the public that hospitals and laboratories were running out of supplies.

Iran to reopen religious, cultural sites

22 May 2020; MEMO: Iran on Saturday moved to open businesses, religious and cultural sites as it eases restrictions imposed to contain the coronavirus pandemic.

Museums and historical sites are to reopen on Sunday to coincide with the Eid el-Fitr celebrations that end the Muslim holy fasting month of Ramadan, President Hassan Rouhani said on state television.

Libya Foreign Ministry: ‘We aim to extend control over entire country’

Iran’s Top Leader Calls For “Resistance” Against Israel’s Pressure On Occupied Palestinian Territories

TEHRAN, May 23 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Friday, called for “resistance” against Israeli pressures on occupied Palestinian territories, according to the leader’s official website.

“My main advice is to continue this struggle” against occupation, and to better organise the resistant groups inside Palestinian territories, Khamenei said, on the occasion of the International Quds (Jerusalem) Day.

He added, Iran will not hesitate in its duty to assist the Palestinians.
