Dubai Fines 14 Merchants For Hiking Face Mask Prices

DUBAI, Apr 6 (NNN-WAM) – Dubai imposed fines on 14 merchants, for inflating the prices of face masks, to exploit the rise in demand for hygiene essentials, following the nationwide alert against COVID-19.

The merchants fined for tampering with prices included nine pharmacies in Nad Al Hamar, Al Mizhar, Nad Hessa, Sheikh Zayed Road, Hor Al Anz, A Twar, Al Qusais, Umm Suqaim and Al Warqa, and five others, including two supermarkets and suppliers, said a statement issued by Dubai Economy on Sunday.

Libya's east-based army claims killing of 41 UN-backed government troops

TRIPOLI, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The east-based army of Libya on Sunday said it killed 41 troops of the UN-backed government's forces in the south of capital Tripoli, as the armed conflict between the two continues.

The east-based army's information office also posted images of bodies in battlefields, saying they belong to the UN-backed government's forces.

Earlier on Sunday, the east-based army said it shot down three Turkey-made drones belonging to the UN-backed government's forces near the city of Misurata, some 200 km east of Tripoli.

Iran: Coronavirus death toll rises to 3,603

05 April 2020; MEMO: Iran reported 151 more deaths from coronavirus on Sunday, pushing the death toll to 3,603, a health official said.

Kianoush Jahanpour, a spokesman for the Health Ministry, said that 2,483 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total infections to 58,226, according to Iran’s state TV.

Jahanpour said 22,011 people have so far recovered and been discharged from hospitals, while 4,057 patients are in critical condition.

Morocco to release 5,654 prisoners amid coronavirus outbreak

05 April 2020; MEMO: Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has pardoned 5,654 prisoners and ordered measures to protect inmates from the coronavirus outbreak, the justice ministry said on Sunday.

The inmates were selected on the basis of their age, frail health, time spent in prison and good conduct, the ministry said in a statement.

The north African country has confirmed as of Sunday morning 919 coronavirus cases, including 59 deaths.

Prominent Hezbollah commander killed in Lebanon

05 April 2020; MEMO: A prominent Hezbollah commander, Muhammad Ali Yunis, was killed by unknown gunmen on Sunday morning in southern Lebanon, Iranian and Lebanese media reported.

The Iranian semi-official Fars news agency reported that the slain commander was “responsible for tracking spies and collaborators”.

It also said that so far there is “no additional information on how he was killed”.

Bahraini Ministry Closes Pharmacy For Hiking Prices Of Sanitisers

MANAMA, Apr 5 (NNN-BNA) – The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, closes a pharmacy for hiking the prices of sanitisers, profiting from the exceptional conditions, resulting from the COVID-19.

The pharmacy, which is located in the area of Riffa, was found in breach of Law 35 of 2019, on consumer protection, said the ministry.
