Erdogan: ‘US is not fulfilling agreement with Syria’

8 Nov 2019; MEMO: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that the United States is not fulfilling its obligations in the Syrian deal, i.e. to take Kurdish fighters out of the Turkish-Syrian border region, stressing that he would discuss the matter with President Donald Trump during their meeting next week.

France reopens contested Jewish tomb in east Jerusalem

Jerusalem, Nov 8 (AP) France has reopened a contested Jewish tomb in east Jerusalem after several aborted attempts.

The French Consulate General reopened the Tomb of the Kings one of Jerusalem's most magnificent ancient tombs to the public last month, for the first time in over a decade.

Tensions between French authorities and Israeli nationalists and ultra-Orthodox Jews who seek open worship at the first century BC tomb and challenge France's ownership continue to make day to day operations problematic at the site.

Russian helicopters will patrol Syria's north daily

TABKA, November 8. /TASS/: Russian Aerospace Defense Forces will carry out patrolling missions in Syria's northern provinces daily, pilot Dmitry Ivanov told reporters on Friday.

"We have started fulfilling special tasks on aerial patrolling of northern provinces of the Syrian Arab Republic. Aerial patrolling will be carried out on several routes and will be performed by groups of helicopters in pairs at the altitude of 50-60 meters," Ivanov said.

Iran downs a drone over southern port city of Mahshahr: report

DUBAI (Reuters) - Iranian media reported on Friday that Iran had shot down a drone over its southern port city of Mahshahr, without providing further details.

“Iran’s army has downed an unknown drone in the port city of Mahshahr,” the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported.

Other Iranian news outlets carried the same report, without elaborating on whether it was a military or civilian drone. Iranian officials were not immediately available for comment.

Egypt's president meets Bahrain's king, hails "strategic" ties

CAIRO, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi met on Thursday with visiting Bahrain King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in the Egyptian capital Cairo, where they vowed to continue boosting ties of cooptation between the two countries, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.

Sisi hailed the Egyptian-Bahraini relations as "a model of strategic cooperation between fellow Arabs," Egyptian precedential spokesman Bassam Rady said in the statement.

Syrian army, Kurdish forces cooperate against Turkey-backed rebels

DAMASCUS, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Syrian army and the Kurdish forces cooperated on Thursday and retook a village from the Turkey-backed rebels in northern Syria, an incident that marked military cooperation between both forces against the Turkey-led offensive in northern Syria, according to a war monitor.

The Syrian army and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) captured the village of Um Shaifeh in the countryside of Hasakah province following intense battles with the Turkish forces and the Turkey-backed rebels, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Iran 5.9 magnitude earthquake kills at least 5, injures 300

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck northwestern Iran early Friday, killing at least five people and injuring over 300 others, officials said.

The temblor struck Tark county in Iran’s Eastern Azerbaijan province at 2:17 a.m., Iran’s seismological center said. The area is some 400 kilometers (250 miles) northwest of Iran’s capital, Tehran.

Erdogan announces slain ISIS leader’s child captured

ANKARA, November 7. /TASS/: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced Thursday that Turkish security services have detained a child of the eliminated leader of the Islamic State terrorist organization, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

"A DNA test confirmed that [the child is al-Baghdadi’s]. They [al-Baghdadi’s arrested family members - TASS] remain in custody in a Turkish deportation center. The Justice Ministry will deliver relevant decisions in their regard," Erdogan underlined.

Russian, Egyptian troops hold air defense drills near Cairo

CAIRO, November 7. /TASS/: Air defense troops from Russia and Egypt live-fired surface-to-to air missile systems during their Arrow of Friendship-2019 joint drills near Cairo, the press office of Russia’s Southern Military District reported on Thursday.

The Russian-Egyptian Arrow of Friendship air defense drills are running on October 26 - November 7. More than 100 personnel of the Southern Military District are representing Russia in the joint maneuvers.

Israeli Settlers attack Fatah official during Hebron tour

7 Nov 2019; MEMO: Illegal Jewish settlers yesterday attacked Fatah’s deputy leader Mahmoud Al-Aloul as he toured the occupied Old City of Hebron, Anadolu Agency reported.

Hebron Municipality said in a statement that a “group of Jewish settlers” attacked Al-Aloul and the delegation accompanying him during a tour of the Old City.

The statement said that the Jewish settlers prevented Al-Aloul from completing his tour.
