Israel strikes Gaza after rocket sirens force Netanyahu off stage

11 Sep 2019; MEMO: Israeli aircraft struck in Gaza on Wednesday hours after rockets from the Palestinian enclave triggered sirens that forced Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu off the stage at an election rally in Israel, reports Reuters.

The Israeli military said 15 targets were hit, including a weapons manufacturing facility, a naval compound used by militants and tunnels belonging to Hamas, the dominant armed force in Gaza.

High rate of drug addiction among Israel residents near Gaza

11 Sep 2019; MEMO: Israeli newspaper Maariv reported yesterday that the consumption of sedatives has increased among Israelis living in the areas around the Gaza Strip.

The region also has a high rate of alcohol abuse, the paper reported, as a result of the “unstable” security situation.

Drug and alcohol abuse is mainly reported among younger Israelis who have lived to see Israel attack the Gaza Strip in three different wars since 2008.

Activist calls for withdrawal of Sudanese troops from Yemen

11 Sep 2019; MEMO: A prominent political activist in Sudan has called for the withdrawal of his country’s soldiers currently fighting in Yemen. Rashid Saeed of the Sudan Professionals’ Association is a civilian member of Sudan’s ruling coalition and has asked the transitional government to bring the troops home. He also expressed a desire for a negotiated peace agreement in Yemen.

Iran Urges India To Defy U.S. Oil Sanctions

TEHRAN, Sept 11 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran has urged India to reject the U.S. oil trade ban imposed on Iran, Press TV reported on Tuesday.

If India defies the U.S. sanctions, it would take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Iranian oil and gas sectors, Iran’s Ambassador to India, Ali Chegini, was quoted as saying.

“If India wants energy security, it should look for a stable source, like Iran, because of its resources, as well as, a strong government-to-government relationship, and the friendship between the two countries,” the ambassador added.

Netanyahu Sells “Illusion” To Voters With Annexation Plan: Hamas

GAZA, Palestine, Sept 11 (NNN-WAFA) – The Islamic Hamas movement accused Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, of selling “illusion” to Israeli voters by vowing to annex part of the occupied West Bank.

“Netanyahu is searching for the right-wing votes throughout selling his audience the illusion that he would keep the occupation of our land forever,” said Hazem Qassem, the spokesman of Hamas, that has been ruling the Gaza Strip since 2007.

31 Shiite Pilgrims Killed, 100 Wounded In Stampede In Iraq’s Karbala

BAGHDAD, Sept 11 (NNN-NINA) – At least 31 Shiite pilgrims were killed and some 100 others wounded on Tuesday, in a stampede in the holy Shiite city of Karbala, in the south of Baghdad, Iraq’s Health Ministry said.

The incident took place in the afternoon, during the major Shiite ritual of Ashura, when thousands of Shiite pilgrims pushed into the entrance of the Imam Hussein shrine in Karbala, some 110 km south of Baghdad.

Israel “Playing With Fire” With Attacks On Arab Territories, AL Chief Warns

CAIRO, Sept 11 (NNN-MENA) – Arab League (AL) Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, warned Israel against “playing with fire” with its recent attacks on some Arab countries.

“Israel now enjoys a political cover, provided by the United States, which enables it to attack Arab territories, as we have seen in recent weeks,” Aboul-Gheit said, at the AL foreign ministers meeting in Cairo.

He added that the purpose behind these aggressions is “electoral propaganda,” referring to the Sept 17 elections due to be held in Israel.

All Peace Deals Will End If Netanyahu Annexes Jordan Valley: Palestinian President

RAMALLAH, Palestine, Sept 11 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, warned that, all peace agreements will end, if Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, moves to annex the occupied Jordan Valley.

Abbas said, the agreements signed with Israel shall be terminated, if the Israeli side imposes its sovereignty over the Jordan Valley, northern Dead Sea, or any parts of the Palestinian territories, occupied by Israel in 1967.

Final Words Of Saudi Journalist Khashoggi Before Death, Revealed By Turkish Paper

ANKARA, Sept 11 (NNN-ANADOLU) – Turkish newspaper, Daily Sabah, on Tuesday revealed the audio recordings of the final words of Saudi Arabian journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, who was murdered last Oct, in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

The audios were obtained by Turkey’s National Intelligence Organisation, right after the murder, and were shared with relevant Turkish authorities who carried out an investigation into the incident.
