Israel drone shot down in south Gaza

10 Sep 2019; MEMO: Palestinian resistance factions last night shot down an Israeli drone in the southern Gaza Strip.

Confirming that one of their drones had been lost, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said in a statement: “Last night, a small drone crashed in the southern Gaza Strip.”

“The incident is being investigated.”

No details were given as to why the drone was in the area or what mission it was carrying out.

Kuwait rebuilds industrial facilities in Gaza

10 Sep 2019; MEMO: The head of the Palestinian Businessmen’s Association, Ali Al-Hayek, has revealed that funds donated by Kuwait have helped to rebuild 420 industrial facilities destroyed during Israel’s 2014 military offensive on the Gaza Strip, Al-Mujtama Magazine reported on Monday. The cost of $8.6 million came from Kuwait’s total aid budget for the reconstruction of Gaza, which is estimated to be around $200m.

Parliament bars Netanyahu’s plan for cameras at polling stations

10 Sep 2019; MEMO: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed on Monday in a bid to have cameras installed at Israeli voting stations, but seized on the legislative defeat to hone accusations his foes intend to steal next week’s election, reports Reuters.

Echoing Donald Trump in his winning presidential run in 2016, Netanyahu, leader of the right-wing Likud party, has turned possible voter fraud into a central theme of his own campaign in a tightly contested race.

Jordan, Tunisia Reaffirm Two-State Solution As Sole Way To End Palestinian-Israeli Conflict

AMMAN, Sept 10 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan and Tunisia reaffirmed their stance that the two-state solution is the only way to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The two sides stressed the need to fulfil the Palestinians’ rights and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the Arab Peace Initiative, according to a statement by Jordan’s Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Palestinian President Says U.S. Fails To Respect International Law

RAMALLAH, Palestine, Sept 10 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, said that, the United States did not respect international law, when it moved its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.

Abbas said in a speech, “We always expect the U.S. … to respect the international law.”

“But we discovered that it (the U.S.) has its own laws and legislations, and therefore, it believes that when it orders, the orders will be respected, and then it moved its embassy to Jerusalem,” he added.

Airstrikes Kill 18 Pro-Government Fighters In Eastern Syria

DAMASCUS, Sept 10 (NNN-SANA) – At least 18 pro-government fighters were killed in eastern Syria, by airstrikes after mid-night, a war monitor reported on Monday.

Unknown warplanes carried out airstrikes against Iranian-run military bases and weapon depots in the Al-Bukamal city and nearby areas in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour province in eastern Syria near the Iraqi border.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said, the slain fighters were Iranians and allied fighters, noting that, the warplanes are yet to be identified.

British tanker to be released ‘within days’ amid tensions over Iranian tanker pictured off Syria

TEHRAN, Sept 9 (NNN- AGENCIES) – Iran has hinted that the release of a British-flagged oil tanker could be completed “within days” despite ongoing rows over the possible violation of sanctions against the Syrian regime.

Foreign ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi, in an appearance on state-run TV channel IRNA, said the “necessary steps” to release the Swedish-owned ship were “underway”.

“The final steps of the legal procedure are underway and, God willing, the boat will be released in the coming days,” he said, without giving further details.

Rise in number of female Palestinian prisoners in Israel jails

9 Sep 2019; MEMO: There are now 40 Palestinian women being held in Israeli jails, the Palestine Prisoners Centre for Studies revealed yesterday.

Felesteen.ps reported the NGO saying in a statement that Israeli occupation forces arrest 10-15 female Palestinians every month.

They are interrogated, the NGO said, some remain in prison while others are placed under house arrest.
