Israel mulls bill to annex 'parks, natural reserves' in occupied West Bank

Turkiye launches mega-scale housing project for return of refugees

26 May 2023; MEMO: Turkiye has launched the construction of a mega-scale housing project to resettle Syrian refugees in northern Syria, Turkish media outlets reported.

The project includes nearly a quarter of a million housing units on the outskirts of the town of Ghandura in the Jarablus region on the border with Turkiye.

Iran: International efforts to reach preliminary version of nuclear deal

26 May 2023; MEMO: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said yesterday that there are international efforts to reach a preliminary version of a nuclear agreement.

Abdullahian said in a press statement that the negotiations for a nuclear agreement are taking place indirectly through the exchange of messages between the concerned parties, according to the local IRNA news agency.

Anger and fear among Syrians amid Turkiye opposition anti-immigrant campaign

Iraqi Leaders Met Czech FM On Ties, Cooperation

BAGHDAD, May 26 (NNN-NINA) – Iraqi political leaders, met yesterday, with visiting Czech Foreign Minister, Jan Lipavsky, to discuss bilateral ties and economic cooperation.

During a meeting with a delegation led by Lipavsky, Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani, lauded the Czech role in supporting efforts of the Iraqi security forces, in combatting terrorism, the media office of the prime minister said, in a statement.

Lebanese Army Probing Israeli Claim Of Downing Drone From Lebanon: Security Source

BEIRUT, May 26 (NNN-NNA) – The Lebanese army, along with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon, are investigating an Israeli claim of shooting down a drone that crossed over from Lebanon earlier yesterday, a Lebanese security source, said.

An Israeli infantry force was found to be combing with armoured vehicles the borderline where the drone fell, the source said on condition of anonymity.

The Israeli military announced in the day, the downing of a drone near its border with Lebanon, without revealing who operated the drone or whether it was armed.

Kuwait suspends new visas for Philippines workers in rights row

KUWAIT, May 26 (Reuters) - Kuwait has suspended all new visas for Philippine nationals indefinitely, the interior ministry confirmed this week, in an escalation of a row between the oil-rich Gulf state and Manila over worker protections and employer rights.

Philippine nationals make up around 6% of Kuwait's 4.7 million population, government data shows. Kuwaitis make up 32%.
