GCC holds consultative meeting to discuss Syria return to Arab League

11 Apr 2023; MEMO: The General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has sent invitations to member States to attend a meeting next Friday in the Saudi capital, Jeddah, to discuss the possibility of Syria's return to the Arab League, a Qatari official said.

A spokesman for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Majid Al-Ansari, said Doha has received the invitation adding that Jordan, Egypt and Iraq, will also participate in the "consultative meeting" since they are "concerned countries".

Thousands Of Far-Right Israeli Settlers, Ministers Marched In West Bank Amid Escalating Tensions

JERUSALEM, Apr 11 (NNN-MA’AN) – Thousands of Israeli settlers and dozens of politicians, including seven cabinet ministers, yesterday marched to an abandoned illegal Israeli outpost, in the occupied West Bank.

The march to Eviatar, an unpermitted outpost in the northern West Bank, that was evacuated by a previous government in 2021, was taking place under heavy police and army guard.

Indian Rupee falls 13 paise to close at 82.12 against US dollar

Mumbai, Apr 11 (PTI) The rupee depreciated 13 paise to close at 82.12 (provisional) against the US currency on Tuesday as dollar demand from importers weighed on investor sentiments.

At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic unit opened at 81.96 against the dollar, and finally ended the day at 82.12 (provisional), 13 paise lower from its previous close.

During the day, the rupee witnessed a high of 81.96 and a low of 82.15 against the greenback.

Missile strikes US base in Syria

11 Apr 2023; MEMO: The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the international coalition forces to fight Daesh at Conoco Military Base in Syria were attacked with a single missile.

The US forces confirmed in a brief statement that the attack that targeted the base did not result in human losses or material damage, noting that it took place at 5:51 PM local time in Syria.

Reports: 90% of tourist reservations in north Israel cancelled

10 Apr 2023; MEMO: After rockets launched from Lebanon and Syrian towards north of Israel, 90 per cent of tourists who planned to visit the area cancelled their reservations, Israeli media reported on Sunday.

Israeli Hebrew daily Maariv reported that business owners expected many tourists to spend their holidays in the north of the country, but the rockets pushed them to change their plans.

Islamic-Christian Committee calls for holding Israel accountable for its crimes

10 Apr 2023; MEMO: The Islamic-Christian Committee in Support of Jerusalem and its Sanctuaries yesterday called on the international signatories to the Fourth Geneva Conventions of 1949 and The Hague Conventions of 1954 "to assume their obligations in holding the Israeli authorities accountable for continuing their crimes against Al-Aqsa Mosque and all Islamic and Christian religious places.

Palestine: Over 1,500 Israeli settlers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque compound

10 Apr 2023; MEMO: More than 1,500 Israeli settlers on Monday forced their way into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem during the Jewish holiday of Passover.

In a statement, the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem said that 1,532 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque today.

It said that the settlers stormed the compound in 21 groups escorted by the Israeli police.

Israel sells Greece guided anti-tank missiles worth $400m

11 Apr 2023; MEMO: Israel on Monday announced a nearly $400 million agreement to supply Greece with guided anti-tank missiles, says Anadolu Agency.

In a statement, the Israeli Defense Ministry said it would provide Greece with Spike missiles, made by the state-run company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
