Iran calls for emergency OIC meeting on situation in Palestine

06 Apr 2023; MEMO: Iran has called for an emergency session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the situation in Palestine in the wake of incursions and raids by Israeli forces, Anadolu News Agency reports.

In a telephone conversation with his Indonesian counterpart, Joko Widodo, on Thursday, Iran's President, Ebrahim Raisi, denounced Israeli actions at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied East Jerusalem.

Israeli aggression at Al-Aqsa Mosque will inflame region; Lebanon's Hezbollah

07 Apr 2023; MEMO: "Targeting of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israel will inflame the region," the head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, Hashem Safieddine, said on Thursday.

He added in brief remarks that he gave to Hezbollah's Al-Manar TV channel, that the "Zionists should know that Al-Aqsa Mosque is not alone; rather, behind it are hundreds of millions of Muslims who are ready to die for it."

07 Apr 2023; MEMO: Palestinian worshippers inside Al-Aqsa Mosque are paying the price of the rush by Arab states to normalise relations with Israel, Hamas's senior leader Hisham Qassem said on Thursday.

In an official statement, Qassem added that the Israeli attacks "won't be ended by a few expressions of denunciation," describing the situation as a "religious war."

Lebanon to file complaint at UN Security Council over Israeli 'aggression'

07 Apr 2023; MEMO: Lebanon intends to lodge an official complaint with the UN Security Council over the deliberate Israeli aggression that took place early Friday, according to a Foreign Ministry statement, reports Anadolu Agency.

The ministry said Israel had violated Lebanon's sovereignty by bombing areas in southern Lebanon.

2 Israeli settlers killed in attack in northern occupied West Bank

07 Apr 2023; MEMO: Two female Israeli settlers were killed and a third was seriously injured on Friday in an attack in the northern occupied West Bank, reports Anadolu Agency.

In a statement, the Israeli army said the attack was on the settlers' car and took place near the settlement of Hamra in the northern West Bank.

Israeli public broadcaster KAN quoted the statement as saying that the perpetrator managed to escape the scene, and a manhunt began to find him.

Turkey, Russia agree on need to lift fertiliser export obstacles

07 Apr 2023; MEMO: Russia and Turkey agreed during talks in Ankara on Friday that obstacles must be lifted to ensure freer Russian fertiliser and grain exports, and enable a UN-brokered deal ensuring Black Sea shipments of Ukrainian grain to be extended beyond next month, reports Reuters.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he and Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed "a failure" to implement the terms of the Black Sea grain deal.

Israeli settlers vandalise Palestinian properties, block entrance of Ramallah city

07 Apr 2023; MEMO: Israeli settlers on Friday vandalised Palestinian properties and closed the entrance to Ramallah city in the occupied West Bank, reports Anadolu agency.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that settlers living in the settlement of Bet El closed the entrance leading to Ramallah and Al-Bireh cities using rocks and garbage containers, and prevented Palestinian vehicles to pass through the entrance.
