Oil tankers clear Turkiye shipping jam with Russian insurance letter

06 Dec 2022; MEMO: A letter provided by Russian insurer, Ingosstrakh, enabled the first oil tanker to sail through Turkish waters in recent days after tougher regulations were imposed by Turkish authorities, a document showed, Reuters reports.

This has led already at least 20 oil tankers backed up in the Turkish Straits as they do not have the right paperwork.

Israel Justice Minister calls on President not to extend Netanyahu government formation mandate

06 Dec 2022; MEMO: Israel's Justice Minister has urged the country's President not to grant an extension for newly-elected Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu's mandate to form a new government, amid continued opposition to his government's far-right elements.

In a tweet this morning, Gideon Sa'ar – the Israeli Justice Minister, former member of the Likud party – called on President Isaac Herzog not to grant an extension of Netanyahu's 28-day mandate which expires next Sunday.

Iran arrests 12 people accused of links with foreign agents

06 Dec 2022; MEMO: Iran has arrested 12 people accused of being linked to overseas agents and planning "subversive action", as anti-government protests continue to take place across the country.

In a statement by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), it claimed that 12 individuals were part of a network to threaten Iran's national security and foment instability, without specifying their nationality or any other details about them.

Morocco advances to World Cup quarter-finals after beating Spain on penalties

06 Dec 2022; MEMO: Morocco qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals after beating Spain 3-0 on penalties on Tuesday, Anadolu News Agency reports.

Neither team was able to break the deadlock for the first 45 minutes at Doha's Education City Stadium.

Despite several efforts from both sides in the second half, neither national team was able to produce a goal as the match went to extra time.

The extra time in the Round of 16 matches was 0-0. So, the penalty shootout decided the winning team.

Iran Denies Sending Weapons To Yemen

TEHRAN, Dec 6 (NNN-IRNA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry, yesterday, denied U.S. claims that it had sent weapons to Yemen.

In reply to a question about an allegation that an Iranian vessel with ammunition was stopped on the way to Yemen recently, the Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, said that, the “repeated allegation” is “baseless” and “is only made for political exploitation.”

On Saturday, the U.S. Navy said that, it had seized an Iranian fishing trawler with ammunition en route to Yemen.

Israel demolishes the village of Al-Araqeeb for the 210th time

05 Dec 2022; MEMO: The Israeli Occupation authorities demolished the Arab village of Al-Araqeeb for the 210th time on Monday.

According to a statement made to an Anadolu correspondent by Aziz Al-Turi, a member of the Local Committee for the Defence of Al-Araqeeb, "The Israeli forces stormed the village of Al-Araqeeb and demolished its homes for the 210th time."

Al-Turi reiterated that the people "will rebuild their village, as they always do."

Sudan's rivals sign framework deal for transition

06 Dec 2022; MEMO: Sudan's ruling Military Council and political forces on Monday signed a framework agreement meant to resolve the country's months-long crisis, Anadolu News Agency reports.

The deal was signed by Army Chief, Gen. Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, the Forces for Freedom and Change (FFC) coalition, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) and a number of rebel movements.

Iran says won't resume nuclear talks 'under threat'

05 Dec 2022; MEMO: Iran said, Monday, it will not accept the resumption of nuclear negotiations with the West under pressure or threat, Anadolu News Agency reports.

"Iran is still committed to the negotiation process and seeks to resolve it, but it will not negotiate on the basis of the need for negotiations," Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kanaani, said in statements cited by the state news agency, IRNA.
